Room with a view

Good location, beautiful views, lovely host

A little grubby, sticky floor in places and the bed had a slope towards the middle causing us to keep rolling together

I was pleasantly surprised to find an array of food (bread, cereal, milk, butter, jam etc) all available in the cabin too.

Kim warmly welcomed us. We had all we need. The room/appartment is quite small but comfortable and clean, you can prepare simple food. Bathroom is though big enough.

For such a small property, it had just about everything you needed. And the view 😍

Brilliant use of an old shipping container. Everything we could possibly need for a few nights. Cooking facilities, decent bed, superb shower and somewhere to sit after a day in the mountains. Fabulous view to Aonach Mor and the Grey Corries.

The main attraction was the view of the mountains, which was amazing. It's a shame that the new houses spoil it a little, but sitting on the sofa we could ignore the rooftops and just see the mountains and some glorious sunsets. Bathroom was small but adequate and shower was great. Kim was a lovely host, very friendly and welcoming without being intrusive, and lovely to chat to. Outdoor area was lovely, but unfortunately the weather did not allow us to make use of it. We didn't want to drive during our stay, and with the train station being so close, and the great bus routes available, we didn't need to. There is a lot more provided in the cabin than the photos suggest - if Kim puts any more in there it will need an extension! The outside area is also more contained now than shown on the photos, with log fencing surrounding the cabin, making it feel more self-contained. Self-catering so no breakfast provided, but we had a lovely walk each day to The Bridge Cafe which we can highly recommend (not as close as the cafe at the visitor centre, but worth the extra walk - we even went back one afternoon for their homemade cake). The Spar in the village was very well stocked. The cabin was surprisingly clean considering it is a shipping container - I had to deal with one eight-legged friend and relocate him out the window, but that's less than we get at home! We almost ended up taking a stowaway home, a very friendly cat that wanted to explore our car when we were packing up!

It would be great to have a gate into the cabin area that didn't involve going through the main yard - we are both wary of dogs and we were a little apprehensive going in to the yard, although Kim was great at trying to keep them away or in the other garden when we were coming and going. They were very friendly dogs and had great recall, just one was quite scary with his bark, so if you are a dog lover you will be fine. For me having been bitten a couple of times, I just get scared quite easily, so a separate access would have made me feel more comfortable.

The space was super comfortable and cozy. Extremely well equipped given the small space. Kim was really friendly and very helpful when our car wouldn’t start in the morning!!!

Not a criticism at all but would maybe suggest adding in a pack of cards/small game if possible!

I had such a lovely stay at the Room with a view. It had everything I required for a few days, the bed was comfortable, a good-sized bathroom with a great shower and plenty of hot water, a well-equipped kitchen and lovely outdoor seating area. Unfortunately the weather was not kind during my stay however the room was so cozy and I loved listening to the rain on the roof. My host Kim was exceptionally kind and helpful and gave me the warmest of welcomes. The surrounding area is brimming with things to do. I would wholeheartedly recommend a stay at Room with a view.
