Petreas Castle

What a beautiful place to stay in this tower with all its history was amazing. The location is great and the taverna next door was really excellent. It was clean and well equipped and we enjoyed it very much.

The accommodation is actually called Petreas Tower not Petreas Castle there are no signs other than on the building itself. We had some trouble finding it as the booking.com map has the incorrect location. The host was very helpful and we found it in the end. The parking is good once you get ip the small, steep narrow lane! Breakfast was great on day one, day 2 was nice but we got a lot less and hadn’t appreciated we need to keep enough butter jam etc from the previous day.

Property is beautifully converted and maintained with all the facilities you could hope for. We loved the historic feel as well as modern luxuries. Secure private parking a bonus, although access is quite steep!!! Having a good taverna just a few steps outside is also great. The care and enthusiasm shown by the host was exceptional.

It didn't affect us but there are a lot of steep stairs in the property so it might be difficult for those with limited mobility or small children

Great location and an incredible accommodation experience. Wonderfully restored tower house with a great restaurant located at the base of the complex.

Unfortunately due to some heritage restrictions the air conditioning in the property is limited to the ground floor and one room on the first floor. All other rooms are unairconditioned and in summer this is quite a challenge. Being Australian I wasn’t too fussed however my European travelling partners found it very tough.

No aircon in bedrooms for heritage reasons. Ceiling fans great but could be a problem in hot weeks of July and August when temperatures reach 40 degrees. Living areas are well air conditioned. Showers leak all over bathroom floors no matter what you do. Difficult to find. Google maps cannot locate it accurately enough. Need a small map showing exactly how to find it from the Kardamyli bridge, specifying the name of the taverna and Old Kardamyli Town. Guests should be asked if they have any mobility problems as the site has multiple steep stairs. Unsuitable for many elderly people. This didn't bother us, aged 73-78, but could be a problem for some.

Location superb. Walking distance to beaches, cafes and restaurants. Lovely historic building. Very good restaurant at the bottom of the Patreas Tower. So convenient.

Perhaps fewer steps and stairs would be welcome but it’s all part of the character of the building.
