Dar Chez Khadija

I would compare this riad to a jewel, we felt like in a story from 1001 Nights. Everything is done with care and love and everywhere you look there is something to admire, from the architectural elements, to the beautiful Moroccan tiles, intricate carved doors, traditional furniture and lighting, blue ceramics and all the rest. The place has three double beds, wi-fi works great at all levels, water pressure is really good and Yassine took great care of us, from cooking breakfast, to taking us to and from the parking and every information we requested. The terrace is amazing and offers a beautiful view over the Medina. I also want to mention something very important: location. This riad is two steps away from one of the main streets in the Medina, which means you don't get lost in the "maze", it's really easy to access it. I love historical and authentic places, and I must say, this is the most amazingly authentic place I've ever stayed with my family. We enjoyed Fes, it was a really nice surprise.

I liked everything but I offer some suggestions. Provide indoor slippers; we hate wearing dirty shoes inside the home. Leave tea (teabags) and/or instant coffee in the kitchen. Privacy covers for bathroom glass.

This wasn't our 1st time in Fes, but it was our 1st traveling to Morocco with our girls. We were in search of an entire home (riads and small children don't always mix well) and Dar Chez Khadija proved to be just what we needed. Pim arranged a quick and easy pick-up from the Fes train station for us, and Yassine was waiting to escort us to the property immediately. Yassine was incredible; so friendly, helpful and respectful -- and our daughters absolutely loved him! Pim was a great host; he messaged periodically to make sure everything was going well, and we felt very taken care of. The home itself is beautiful; very spacious for a family of 4, with great decor and a nice, spacious terrace. The stairs are definitely steep, but didn't prove a problem for us. The heaters in each bedroom kept things cozy during cold nights, and we really appreciated the washing machine and ample detergent. We were surprised by how comfortable we quickly became in the neighborhood and can easily see ourselves returning to the Dar again someday.

As is typical in Fes, the plumbing is a little temperamental with occasional odors from the pipes. The bathrooms are classic Moroccan (no separation between toilet and shower), but there is a powder bathroom downstairs and a room with just a shower on the top level. We chose to use the room with the exclusive shower to bathe, and the drain struggled to keep up.

Truly a lovely house of character in the medina. Yassine was a most welcoming housekeeper, as were the Ducth owners; we felt that everyone really cared about making our stay as good as possible. The property truly matches the photos—stylish and adorned with beautiful ornamental details, including a water fountain. Spending late afternoons on the rooftop terrace, taking in the panoramic views of the city, was a delight, as was exploring the adjacent alleyways of the Fes medina. The air conditioning in every room, along with the extra heater, was very useful, since January nights can be surprisingly cool. Each morning, a fine breakfast of eggs, yogurt, orange juice, coffee or tea, and local pastries was prepared and served at a time agreed upon in advance, which was a most welcome amenity.

Nothing really. A wardrobe would be a useful addition to the upper master bedroom.

The service was superb not before the booking with fast and accurate information as well as during our stay helping us finding good restaurants, a porter, taking care about us so well that it made it a very valuable holiday experience. The road was spacey, authentic, charming and really good - beds were of unchallenged quality nice soft. Breakfast lovely - next time we might even have it on the roof terrace which is a relaxing place given a great overview of fez. We loved it!

It was all so well - I would not know what could have been done better

This dar was our favorite place we stayed during our visit to Morocco, and we stayed at 4 different places. The moment you walk in you are greeted by exquisite Moroccan decor, architecture, & furnishings. The fountain in the entrance area is so relaxing and beautiful, as well as the stunning mosaic tilework and ornate ceilings and trimmings around the doors. We felt like we were staying in a royal Moroccan palace. We loved having breakfast on the rooftop terrace, and Yassine greeted us with a pot of Moroccan mint tea and pastries upon arrival. He made us breakfast every morning and helped us upon departure to get some medicine at the pharmacy for our daughter who wasn’t feeling well. He was so friendly and helpful and we really appreciated his time making sure we had everything we needed. We took a guided tour arranged by Yassine and it was great. If we ever return to Fes we will without hesitation stay here again! The photos don’t even do it justice. It is located in the heart of the Medina so it’s ways to walk everywhere for restaurants, shopping, hammans, ATM’s, or anything you need.

Mattress on canopy bed was 2 smaller mattresses pushed together so for 2 people sleeping together it wasn’t as comfortable as if there was a King mattress.

This riad is well located to the main arteries of the medina, food markets, merchandise stores, restaurants and cafes. Yassine is very helpful and responds quickly to requests. The rooftop terrace is a great place to relax.

Great, safe location, comfortable beds, cold AC and Yassine is superb. Owner responded very promptly throughout the stay and prior.

I want to emphasize when in.Fes, This should be the only place you should ever rent. Our host manager was unbelievably wonderful. Location location location as they say in america about places to stay. Our host manager made me feel like a Prince. The entire stay. I looked forward to seeing him every morning with his lovely smile. And care for us. I wanted to take him home and adopt him. He was so wonderful.the Raid was the best one That I have stayed in in all of morocco. Do not hesitate booking this place on your next trip. I felt in good hands the entire trip. I'm sorry it wasn't longer.

I hated that I had to leave.
