"Comfortable, homey and historic apartment in a quiet village near wine country in the hills."

The apartment was fully provided with all the things needed to live there and the host gave us a tour of the place as well as explanations of the gas stove and other amenities. Food was provided as well. The village of Melo is quiet, the people friendly. There was historic buildings and it was the former home of a famous Portuguese writer. The host had little English and we had little Portuguese, but we were able to communicate through hand signals and also by text, as our phones translated the texts. She also spoke French. A washing machine was at the apartment, though no drier, but a drying rack was provided, which worked well to dry our clothes.

Our main concern was that the bed was very firm. We found this at every place we stayed. The bathroom was downstairs and the bedroom was upstairs. If a person cannot negotiate stairs than this would not be a good fit.

"Above expectations, cozy and quiet placce."

I stayed for 1 night only at Governos House, but this was just amazing! Ms. Teresa is an outstanding person, she welcomed me and my mom with kind and love. The house was just perfect for us, a cozy and quiet place indeed. Ms. Teresa invited us to her tavern near the house and also we were received for all people that were there with kind and affection. I will return to the surroundings in the near future and will stay at Governos House for sure! Thank you for all, Ms. Teresa!

A charming house in a nice, calm village. We got lost on our way and arrived much later than expected, but we were welcomed with such kindness and with traditional soup from the owner that warmed our bellies and our hearts as well!

Very nice owner! The most equipped apartment we have ever!! The owner left us orange juice, milk, butter, jam and more and more.

The only thing is that the bedrooms are in the second floor and the bathroom & toilet in the first floor. It was difficult for me, but for people without limitations - this should not be a problem
