The Bishy, York city centre & free parking

property is absolutely beautiful- extremely well designed and clean - beds are very comfortable - quiet location but within walking distance to all attractions- Felt very well looked after - didn’t need anything else but knew Neil the owner was a message away if we did - we had a lovely welcome with a bottle of Prosecco - We try to stay in York once a year and I can honestly say this was the nicest accommodation we’v stayed in - would highly recommend. Also easy parking right outside

Couldn’t fault a thing

This house needs blinds for privacy, especially in the 2 bathrooms. We felt unable to use the upstairs bathroom after dark with the light on for fear of being seen through the frosted glass. The bathrooms are a little tired and not the cleanest dirty heated towel rail downstairs, sink plug full of hair (not mine) upstairs. The bedrooms need mirrors, there was nowhere to do my hair and no full length mirror anywhere in the house. The pillows were too soft / very uncomfortable and the duvets much too heavy. The stairs in this property are steep and unevenly proportioned. We found them a bit dangerous. My husband slipped on top one and fell down them. The parking permit is part of the price but the available parking is not the best, the street is very narrow and the neighbours didn’t seem too happy about us being parked outside the property. We had cones and signs placed right next to our car.

A charming property, very clean and comfortable. Kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need, spacious rooms with comfortable beds, nice decor, convenient location. Excellent.

Best thing about the property was the location. Easy walk to the centre of York and some local shops and restaurants closer to the property. Neil was a good host, rectifying quickly some issues and he also provided a lot of information and good recommendations regarding things to do in York/places to eat.

The property was not what we expected. The quality of the property did not match the photographs nor the good reviews. The standard of finish and cleanliness we didn't find up to standard. There was no bedding at the property to be used for the sofa bed. This was provided the next day but meant for an uncomfortable first night for a family member. The street was noisy, especially as we needed the windows open due to the heat.
