Adad Noubian House

Excellent Noubian stay, we loved it! We had the whole second floor to ourselves with our own locking main door, as well as access to the top floor to enjoy the view. They live on the bottom floor so we left our suitcases securely in our rooms and appreciated the ability to travel around without lugging them. They truly are a heartwarming family that gave us wonderful advice on travel, arranged multiple reasonable rides for us and truly wanted to make sure we loved our stay. Spotlessly clean, excellent homemade breakfast and wonderful hosts.

We booked a second night so check out our review from the day before. It is truly a wonderful Noubian stay on Elephantine island, and a 1 minute walk to the ferry.

Staying on Elephantine Island was an incredible experience, situated in a serene part of Aswan where you truly feel like part of the small community. The location is perfect for those seeking peace and a genuine connection with local life. The breakfast was a highlight, with a delicious homemade Nubian-style spread that felt authentic and hearty. Every morning felt like a unique introduction to the local flavors and traditions. Khalid was an exceptional host. His warmth and hospitality offered us a genuine insight into Nubian life, making our stay not just comfortable, but memorable. This experience truly felt like more than just a stay—thanks to Khalid, we left with a deeper appreciation for the culture and people of this beautiful region.

Location was good, close to the public ferry wharf. Great view of the Nile. Khalid & his family were very helpful. We only stayed for one night but Khalid served us a lovey breakfast & helped us to the ferry the next day.

Air conditioning was a bit noisy.

This Is the best place to stay in Elephantine Island ! Very nice family and welcoming guesthouse, listening to your expectations and doing their best for you to enjoy your stay. They have a felouque and a motor boat so you can arrange some boat trip. The appartement is big, clean and fresh with mosquito barreers in all the windows. The location just in front of a ferry stop is very convenient

It was basic but clean property,very good value for money. It was house and how ,s family Lived down stairs. All family was very nice .owner,Kyle’s was kind and very hospitable. He made our stay very comfortable

It was basic, don’t expect any thing like hotels if you are used to live In hotels It is on island so have to use the boats to cross river. We really liked it.

Our best stay in all of Egypt, period. I can only speak wonders of Khalid and his wife Abir. From the beginning they took us in and treated us as one of their own. We arrived with the sleeper train and Khalid was waiting on Elephantine Island to take us to his house. He showed us our floor in his house and then invited us to breakfast. No need to say it was exceptional, Abir is a wonderful cook. They helped us with everything. We had to wake up early in the morning to go to Abu Simbel and Khalid offered to take us across with his motorboat as the ferry was not working those hours. His wife even prepared us lunchbags. My husband also got sick throughout the voyage and They would continuously come to check if he was okay, and make tea with lemon and herbs. The most hospitable people I have met in Egypt. We also had doubts as to how to travel from Aswan to Luxor while stopping at Kom Ombo and Edfu. Khalid offered to organize a driver for us at a fraction of the minibus or tour prices. And while being transferred from aswan to luxor, he even called the driver to check on us. The kindest people in all Egypt. Big heart, comfortable home with lots of space and very clean. Great food. This place has it all. Thank you!

Host was very kind and helpful all the time. He even helped us to carry luggage. Very basic home, but good experience.

Lot of facilities mentioned are not provided (TV, washing machine, WiFi, oven etc)

+ It is right next to the ferry terminal on the island. + The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. The welcome drink was very good + Water pressure was good compared to our stay in Cairo. + Mr Adad has few felucca boats. He offered a reasonable hourly priced private tour in the evening when we returned from Abu Simbel temple. + Were provided a glass of milk for our daugher in the morning on request + Big flat with large living room, and bathroom (with bath tub and shower cubicle both) . Both bedrooms have balcony with partial views of the Nile river. We didn't go to the roof terrace, I think it might offer better views. + If you contact in advance, they were able to book competitively priced private car and guide with their local contact person . ( for $100 if I recall correctly for 3 passengers). I had a Viator discount offer, hence I booked the car trip using Viator instead of their contact. Mr. Adad helped me connect with his cousin who is a guide at Ambu Simbel temple. I think we paid 400 EGP + tip for his guide service, which I think was very good price compared to other quotes I got online. + There was a small grocery store (corner-store) at 2-3 min walking distance. Can't comments : Ddn't use kitchen or AC. We wish we had stayed longer to explore the island itself. It had a nice rural feel to it, which I wanted my daughter to explore given we live in a big developed European city. Minor points to consider : - The flat is on 1st floor, pl note if you have heavy luggage or access issues. Mr Adad helped us take the luggage upstairs, which is good. But he might not be home when other guests reach. - The furniture and other appliances are little dated (as seen in photos). It is not a recently furnished apartment, if that is what you are looking for. But it has a nice homely feel. - Very noisy neighbourhood at midnight during Ramadan (as is most of Egypt) - broken mirror pieces in drawer, watch out if you have kids

Perfect location close to Nile and ferry crossing. Kitchen with full equipment, huge bathroom. Nice decor of the apartment. Cleanliness. Excellent value for money. Very reliable, welcoming and friendly owner. He did everything he can to make our stay enjoyable, incl. tasty homemade dinner. Note 10 is too low !

Everything was better than perfect !
