Agniti Cottage

Very comfortable, cosy and clean , toiletries and milk provided with some tins of beans too! Cottage is very quaint and has everything you need. Stairs are winding and steep but we were aware of this. Fabulous location.

DO NOT BOOK THIS COTTAGE. I didn’t like anything about this property. It was absolutely awful. The cottage is freezing cold, the property manager didn’t put the heating on in preparation for our checking in. The thermostat read 13 degrees when we arrived. The stone floor in the kitchen diner is freezing cold. The staircase is dangerous and impossible to navigate with small children/babies. There is crusty yellow mold in the main bedroom and the whole cottage smells of damp/wet dog. There was graffiti on the dresser in the main bedroom and the whole cottage is very drab/tired. The cottage hadn’t been cleaned, the drawers were dirty/covered in hair and an odd sock had been left behind from a previous guest… There were cobwebs everywhere… I have nothing good to add. It is also worth noting that the footbridge to the west mill is closed at the moment so this cottage is not easy access for anyone attending weddings there. I would rather have driven home than stayed here if I’d have known how bad it would be. For £250 you can book a nice hotel with breakfast - save your money and book somewhere else. When I raised the above issues the property manager was very dismissive and did not consider my request of a partial refund to reflect the value of the property. They never addressed the fact that the property was moldy, smelly, cold and dirty. I will not be getting any money back. Save your money and stay elsewhere.

Staircase was a bit too narrow and slippery. Top step felt slightly insecure. We repaired the bed on first floor for the owners

location is very good and convenient in Darley Abbey, approximately 1.5 mile walk to Derby centre

The cottage is okay - as long as you don’t have mobility issues (very narrow stairs), but the management is appalling. There was no basic supplies such as toilet rolls and it was a stressful experience getting our deposit returned when they falsely tried to claim the key had not been returned to the security box (when it was). After 4 weeks of numerous calls and emails they finally agreed to return deposit (only after we had to get ready to pursue them through the small claims court and had evidence they were lying). A strict 10AM check out on Sundays.
