"Spend a little more money, get some peace & quiet and sleep."

Stay away from this place at the moment. This place is not safe for a person’s property or safety and health for the following reasons: 1. There is an African American (“AA-01”) guy here who is sick with something contagious which I picked up because well we are all living in the same small space. Ironically, even though the airconditioner makes AA-01’s cough even worse, AA01 voluntarily and intentionally moved from the lower bunk bed to an upper bunk bed directly in front of the airconditioner. It’s even worse when AA-01 turns off the airconditioner because the small room where we all stay essentially becomes an incubator for germs. As if that’s not bad enough, AA-01 blows his snot into toilet paper which he throws around everywhere contaminating every flat surface in the tiny room we all share. 2. AA-01 opens the door to let an unregistered guest AA-02 into the room without payment making AA-01 an accomplice to theft of services. The first time the two of them were in the room, I overheard them say “Let’s leave the door open because it’s too cold in the room from the airconditioner.” This took me aback because they decided unilaterally without asking the other guests in the room. I had to protest “Don’t do that because animals could enter the room and there’s a family of skunks living under the trailer.” It’s not too far fetched for animals to enter the room because AA-01 and AA-02 have left leftover and half-eaten food and plastic bottles and paper plates all over the place which could attract animals with the smell of food. There are also racoons in the neighborhood which can be rabid. Also, one would never know who AA-01 would let into the room. Since both I and the co-host who’s staying next door work the graveyard shift on the same exact nights, female guests would not be safe if AA-01 lets in a criminal. I am gay and grew up with 3 sisters and a mother so I am naturally protective of women. But without the co-host or myself there to keep

AA-02 also talks for hours inside the room with his presumed girlfriend putting her on speaker so everyone can hear both sides of the conversation keeping everyone up. The only reason he doesn’t blast his cell phone at full volume is that the co-host is staying next door and AA-02 doesn’t want to be caught squatting for free. Yesterday, I went to work on 2 hours sleep. Fortunately, I was able to take a nap on both my two breaks and had no incident. The first day AA-02 spent in the room as a thief and an intruder, he threw and left his McDonalds wrapper on my clothes and left it for me to find the next day. AA-01 and AA-02 also have stored a lot food in the fridge and freezer leaving no room for paying guests like myself to store our food. 4. AA-01 and another guest smoke weed all day, which is okay since it is legal in New Jersey and well I really don’t care. However, sometimes the two of them exhale their weed smoke inside the hostel room where it could enter my bloodstream. I could lose my job if drugs are detected in my system, since I operate heavy machinery and I am subject to random drug test. I understand that this is not the Hilton and I am paying for a bed in a hostel near Trenton, NJ. I have long ago given up on asking the present co-host to do his job like cleaning the place whenever a guest leaves and washing my sheets whenever I renew my stay every two weeks. I do pay for cleaning and laundry. But I do have some basic expectations and they’re few and all reasonable and they are: 1. That I feel safe and secure and that no intruder –human or animal –enter the room; 2. That the place is basically clean of leftover food, wrapper and plates and empty bottles; and 3. That I get to sleep free of disturbance. I haven’t gotten that here and neither will you. It’s just better to spend a little more money and be away from these criminals staying in the room and get some peace and quiet, feeling safe and secure and getting some sleep.
