Relaxing house by the beach - Casa Rosa

Wonderful location close to Porto Pim and the harbour and yet very quiet. The property is well equipped, surprisingly spacious, and loved the view from the terrace at the back of the house. Michael met us at the house with the keys and took the time to give us plenty of recommendations about restaurants, bars, and hikes. I appreciated how accommodating the host was and communication was easy. I would stay here again!

You rent the whole appartment , which was important for me as I needed to stay a while.

The house can be cold. Better heating might be nice in colder periods. There was a small heater , but that wasn't enough. Later I found another thing that might be a heater too , but I was not familiar with it. So I only used 1.

This property is absolutely a wonderful base for exploring Horta. We walked to most meals--please please go to Cantinho das Provas---an amazing local wine and tapas bar with wonderful service and a cozy atmosphere. I had already picked it out, but when we asked the property manager for advice he mentioned it right away. The host was communicative and responsive. There are several neighborhood cats (a plus for me.) You won't be able to park in front of the house, but there is ample free parking close enough. You can get to the nearby hiking trails right by the house, and there's a fun "perch" for drinking the local wine and overlooking the city. If we went back we'd go here.

We are not fancy enough and could not make head nor tail of the coffee machine. But we mentioned to the host that that was a point of confusion and she was very gracious, so I doubt it will be an issue going forward.
