Casa Volta do Mar

Beautiful home with everything you would need for a stay. Felipa was so helpful and wonderful with any questions. The home was warm and was in a very good location close to town and restaurants!! The garden view was beautiful to watch the sunset and sunrise :)

Very nice home, good location close to the beach and the center of Horta. A very friendly welcome! The house has a big kitchen and a terrace with a great view.

As it gets quite hot during the summer months, a suggestion would be to consider providing a fan. Though pest control was done on the day of our arrival, we still encountered a couple of cockroaches in the house. It’s of course noted that it’s an older house and these things happen, but just to note that pest control should remain a priority.

Internet not working, parts of the furniture damaged (rusty trays in shower), whole apartment unclean. Shower wall with visible drying spots, hair everywhere (can’t be from me, I’m bald), crumbs and dirt on the floor, dishes dirty in cupboards, kitchen sink dirty

We wish the weather had been better to allow us to make more use of the outside space which was lovely. Kitchen really well equipped, bed was very comfortable and shower was great.

Cute and nicely decorated appartement with a beautiful terrace just a few steps from a nice beach, restaurants and bars. Defintely recommendable!

This is the most gorgeous private property I’ve ever rented. Yes, the multi-level patio is spectacular. But just as impressive is the care that was taken with the design and décor of the apartment interior. With a stunning blend of functionality and aesthetic, tremendous attention to detail was exercised in restoring what was once a neglected fisherman’s cottage into something straight out of an HGTV remodel. The space within is plenty for a couple, with a large kitchen featuring new appliances and a farmhouse sink. It was well-stocked with the basics for cooking (seasonings, sugar, olive oil, etc.) A large bathroom features ample counter space, basic toiletries, and a hair dryer. A flat-screen television, games, and books are provided in case of a rainy day. A bluetooth speaker with impressive quality of sound allowed us to connect music from our phones, and the WIFI was strong and reliable, enough to allow for some unfortunate (but necessary) work-related video calling. But most impressive was how those who lovingly designed this home brought the outside elements of the island into its space: natural wood, plants, colors of the land and sea, and rich textures. Skylights and well-appointed windows allow for a nature light and reliable cross breeze on warmer days. A wood-burning stove is there for warmth if needed. The location of the apartment means that the beach, harbor, ferry, and supermarket are within walking distance. The Porto Pim area also features some of Horta’s best restaurants (Genuino and Atletico, in particular). Finally, you could not ask for better hosts. Both George (the property owner) and Carlos (the property manager) were available before and during the stay to answer questions quickly and promptly. We had the pleasure of meeting them both, and thoroughly enjoyed a conversation with George about his non-profit organization, which will benefit from your stay at this stunning property.
