Rallou House Hydra

Absolutely wonderful! The most beautiful house we have ever stayed in. Everything about it is absolutely wonderful and it has such a fabulous feel and charm about it. The decor is incredible, there is so much to look at and the house is full of wonderful pieces of art, artefacts and books from all around the world, we could have stayed for months! The views from the house are absolutely breathtaking - you can see for miles - the view from the living room windows is particularly stunning. I loved the wonderful tiled floors, the ceilings, all the books, the steps being outside, the furniture, the beautiful master bedroom with the amazingly big wardrobe (how did they get it there?!) - so many things! The bedrooms are a great size for a family of 4, but sleep 6 and there’s so much room to spread out, you wouldn’t feel cramped. 2 bathrooms was helpful too. Sofia the host met us at the port and showed us the way - she was fabulous! It’s quite a climb from town (half a mile of solid up hill) so only for the relatively fit, but the views are 100% worth it.

We loved every single thing about it

Our stay at Rallou House exceeded all of our expectations. From the house itself to our very special hosts, we had a beautiful vacation on Hydra. The house is located high up on the island, providing the most magical view, which is most definitely a highlight and in itself worth the stay. There are multiple spaces to rest outdoors, get together or simply enjoy some solitude. Creative people will find that the house is a true sanctuary for thought and creativity, though all of us very much appreciated the spacious rooms, bathrooms, and the beautiful decor. Alex is the best host we ever had. He is forthcoming, communicates everything very well and makes sure that you have all the privacy and accommodation that you need. The house is and feels very meaningful. We cannot recommend it enough and will most certainly be returning to Hydra and Rallou House as soon as we can. Spacious and well equipped with great views from the terrace.very helpful and welcoming owners. Excellent communication before and during the trip including organising transport on to our next hotel for a Wedding.

It was a much harder walk up the hill than we were expecting especially in the heat of the day. The property would benefit from a sun umbrella to give more shade on the upper terrace and would have been good to have bbq facility. Maybe need to warn guests about the resident cat in case of allergies.

Bathrooms were basic; lack of Sun loungers

We were met from the ferry by the owner who had arranged a mule for the bags, they walked with us to the apartment to show us around. Could not have been better. The whole stay was amazing, the house is large with several terraces and decorated beautifully and the hosts, though not intrusive, were very helpful. would definitely visit again.

Large, beautiful home with plenty of character. The house is huge with multiple outdoor areas. It also boasts an incredible view of the island.

It was a privilege to have the opportunity to stay in such a remarkable home. Everything about it was exceptional - the elegant architecture, the personal treasures, the ample space, the views and the generous welcome. Perched high on the hill, it was a haven from the hustle and bustle of the port, and caught a gentle breeze even in the middle of the hottest days. The effort to climb the stairs (easily managed by an active middle aged couple and our young adult children) was more than rewarded every time we entered the lounge and saw the jaw dropping view. Hydra port is a very special place and Rallou House is even more so. We look forward to returning some day.

We found very little to dislike. The WIFI was patchy in a few of the rooms (thought the owners have added multiple APs to alleviate this and both Vodafone and Nova mobile data connections were solid). Apart from that no-one in our part of 5 had any complaints.
