Goshen Cottage

It’s in a good location and is nicely decorated. There was usually parking outside the property.

The online description is not accurate. It states that there are two bathrooms and there is not. There is one on the top floor and an additional toilet on the bottom floor. One of the rooms had no blinds or curtain (facing the street). I contacted the owner and was told that they knew it was broken and were waiting for a new blind to arrive. She did apologise but did not offer any temporary measures. That room adjoins the main bedroom but you have to go through the main bedroom to get to it. Not ideal if you are not staying with family. There were some other issues/ broken items e.g. bedroom ceiling light, plug hole, towel rail, which I also told the owner at the same time as I mentioned the blind. She said she would tell her repair man. I never heard from her again after she sent her response, despite me staying there for an additional 5 days. No sign of a repair man either. Cleanliness in the bedrooms and bathrooms was good but other areas were lacking e.g. freezer, doors and windows. There was, what looked like dried blood, on the bathroom door. Some items in the kitchen weren’t great, e.g. couple of scratched frying pans and a cafetière that needs replaced, as grinds end up in the coffee. The property is over 3 floors. I would suggest that it’s not ideal for young children or people who struggle with stairs.

Lovely house, beautifully furnished & well equipped, great location, had everything we needed. Nikki was super helpful & accommodating. Christmas tree & welcome baskets very nice xx

The third bedroom was like a cupboard.

We stayed 8 days in this lovely house. It is 5 minutes walk from the center of Kelso, but very quiet and has a feeling of a village. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped. Wonderful bath and shower. The basement and patio are bonus for good weather. We will certainly book it again when we come back to Kelso.

We liked EVERYTHING. We have stayed in this beautifully quirky cottage on numerous occasions now, and this time, we opted for a 17 day stay in August 2024. It was just as good as our other visits with every single home from home comfort anyone can possibly need. (We noticed the new boiler too Nikki, which which was a nice surprise, although we still have fond memories of the old unit.. That's because had it not been for the original system, we would not have got to meet you in person..!!..) 🙂 The whole house is extremely well appointed and you cannot fail to be comfortable, in the peaceful and relaxed atmosphere Goshen Cottage provides. The property is very conveniently positioned for all amenities the lovely town of Kelso has to offer, literally 2 or 3 minutes walk from the Town Square. Perfect base for local walking and cycling, fishing or golf, with the famous Race Course nearby. Free parking immediately outside the front door and a simple efficient key safe entry system upon arrival, and fabulous 'welcome hamper'. We have reviewed the property after all of our previous visits, and we have given the place very good scores on each occasion, but only with good reason. When hosts provide facilities as good as this, they deserve other potential guests to know about it. Nikki & her team simply could not be more helpful, and deserve every future success..!! I'm not sure, but this was possibly our 5th or 6th visit to Goshen, and it definitely will not be our last. Why not give it a try... ; You won't be disappointed.....!!

There is quite simply NOTHING we do not like about lovely Goshen Cottage. Managed & Hosted by the quite simply superb 'Kelso Border Retreats' organisation. (Check out their other properties, all based in the idyllic Scottish Borders) In a word, 'Excellent'....!!! 👍

Clean and comfortable. Stylish, well equipped and close to local amenities. Very comfy bed. Minutes walk into town. Great location.

Hairdryer, downstairs room needs better lighting but is nice in the sun.
