I recently stayed at Kathleen’s Carrowkeel Cottage, and it was a truly wonderful experience. The cottage itself is a beautiful blend of traditional farmhouse charm and modern interior comforts. Nestled in a peaceful, quiet area, it offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The house is super clean—everything was spick and span, with no unpleasant smells in the kitchen or elsewhere. It’s very well designed, with comfort and coziness clearly in mind. From the layout to the thoughtful furnishings, it felt like a home away from home. One of the highlights for me was the view out the back—two majestic horses in the backyard and a cow farm just beyond, adding to the unique countryside feel. It was a different experience waking up to the sights and sounds of the farm, which added a lovely, authentic touch to my stay. While there is no Wi-Fi at the cottage, I was able to get a good 5G signal in the kitchen, so staying connected wasn't an issue. Overall, Carrowkeel Cottage is a lovely place for anyone looking to relax in a serene environment while still enjoying all the comforts of a modern home.

The only minor downside was the road from R295, which is a narrow, uneven countryside lane for about 5km. While it can be a bit tricky, it also adds a sense of adventure to the journey.

The house is so beautiful!!!!! The views are stunning. And it is right next to the site of Carowkeel.

The cottage is adorable! Exceptionally clean and the host Miranda is great! It is off the beaten path and not at all touristic, a 25 minute drive to Sligo where there is plenty to visit but also around the corner from the carrowkeel tombs. The kitchen has more than just the essentials, we were provided with milk, drinks and popsicles for the kids. Obviously coffee and tea and different condiments were available. The highlight for the kids were the two horses grazing in the back. And not far there are cows and even sheep. We would definitely like to stay again

The cottage itself was perfect. Everything available and clean. And the location was great. Walking around in the neighbourhood was a nice thing to do.
