The Old Mansion

Everything was just amazing and exceeded all our expectations. Vasia is a lovely small village in the Ligurian hills, surrounded by thousands of olive trees. Unfortunately, we couldn't meet Matteo in person because he was overseas, but he made sure that we had all the info we needed, he was extremely helpful and made the check-in as easy as it could get. The house/apartment was really cute and super clean, there was everything we needed and a lovely outside are to chill out. Matteo even provided a lot of information about what to do and see in the surroundings which was extremely helpful as well. We had an absolute blast and would come back anytime. nothing, everything was literally perfect!

Location is simply great, a strategic point in Liguria mountains, a beatiful small village surrounded with olive forests. The house is charming and very well equipped. It's located on top of the village close to the ancient church. Our host was in absence, but provided us with detailed instructions on how to find the house, collect keys, etc. The house is surrounded with a nice terrace (beatiful view), where we were enjojing our breakfast and dinner daily. Inside it's very well organized in two floors, having a kitchen and a living room at the ground floor, and a bedroom and a bathroom (a great spacious shower) upstairs. For those well after 80 it may be not so easy to use steps, and for us it was a funny and pleasant excercise ( BTW, in many villages around one walks in the same way, there are so many steps everywhere, it's charming). The outside church bells count time and play carion music every evening. The village is very calm and one does not see the tourist crowds. There is a fantastic tourist manual in the house made by the host, one can find there a list of places to visit, restaurant and shop references, and much more. We used it extensively, especially to visit several pittoresque villages around. In addition, our host advised us (on our request) an excellent olive producer in the neighboring village, so we bought some olives and olive oil to bring it home. The olives and the oil are great, we already tested them. We appreciate very much the hospitality of the host Matteo and his family. The house, services and instructions are all perfect. P.S. Just a comment on the skills one heeds to have to be really happy and comfortable there: one needs some experience in driving by mountain roads (serpentines, narrow roads, u-turns, etc), however the road quality is typically very good (gudron). Also, a navigator is much advised. To buy food: we were recommended to visit Conad supermarket - great!

The house itself is well decorated and nicely furnished. However, the internal staircase between the living room and bedroom also requires physical fitness, it is very steep and narrow. The WiFi offers a good bandwidth. The kitchen contains complete accessories for self-catering. The landlord Matteo is extremely friendly and helpful. He responded to emails immediately and explained everything in detail. However, despite the detailed description, we did not succeed in persuading the smart TV with Google software to deliver picture and sound. But a certain media abstinence is sometimes quite healthy for us city dwellers. Overall we recommend the accommodation.

A winding, narrow mountain road leads from Imperia to Vasia. Experience with mountain rallies is recommended. In Vasia you park your car on the church square. From there it is a short uphill walk of about 150 meters to the accommodation. However, the last 30 meters are extremely steep, a real challenge for older guests or guests with limited mobility.
