"Authentic old hostelry in a beautiful location with friendly hosts."

8.0

Beautiful location with friendly, helpful hosts who were really responsive in relation to my dietary needs. Lovely atmosphere in the hotel, respectful of its history. Comfortable room, lovely and warm too.

A few minor things - bin hadn't been emptied in room, it could do with some more touches such as tissues etc Tea/coffee selection limited. Access to TV channels wasn't very good, due to location I'm guessing. The main issue for me though was the noise of the wind buffeting the pine end of the hotel, where my room was situated. It kept me awake for a good few hours, though not sure what could be done about that.

"I declined staying in this what I consider to be an unsafe establishment"

1.0

Nothing

On arriving in room I notified proprietor that the light wasn’t working, ‘of course it is’ he replied ! ( it did not work)! Light was operated by a double switch which also seemed to be for the unsafe dangerously broken wall lights . * i found my room to be quite warm and attempted to open the 2 small windows. I was able to open the right hand window , but had concerns as the window safety latch was not properly function able, therefore unsafe for my 2 small dogs travelling with me. * I informed proprietor that I couldn’t open the left hand window , of which he then did with some force! This window had no safety latch at all! * proprietor offered to TIE the windows !!! I declined and told him that this was totally unacceptable as unsafe electrics and window . He was extremely rude to me ! I felt very uneasy and told him I’d rather sleep in my car & left .

"Definitely worth staying when travelling across Wales."

10.0

Spacious rooms, good food prepared on spot. Friendly staff and the place has very positive vibe.

Unfortunately this time internet was down due to fallen tree but wasn’t a big issue. There was reception up the hill for quick contact with family.

Great location just off the Glyndwr Way. Recently renovated comfortable room with very friendly service. Food decent too. Excellent all round.

Just be careful about what is available on what days!
