The Lafayette House

Love everything about this property. Location was prefect . Host was very friendly

Super easy to find, convenient to get to and from our conference downtown, very clean and comfortable. It was a lovely old home in a charming, quiet little neighborhood but accessible to anything we might need. We were in town for a 3 day conference, and one of the people in our group had dietary restrictions, so having a fully equipped kitchen was perfect for us. I also had EVERYTHING I needed for a cup of coffee each morning, which was wonderful.

Nothing- only one full and one half bath might make it tricky for some but our group managed just fine.

Everything! And I mean that literally! This isn’t just a common place to stay. This isn’t just a boring suite in an impersonal hotel where you will be just a guest with a room number. The Lafayette House is your (part time) HOME! With the first step across the doorstep you will feel a warm welcome and the love for the detail in every corner! Take your time and discover the Lafayette Logo on towels and coffee mugs. So much love for the detail, even in tiniest corner is unbelievable! This house is amazing in every way. Three bedrooms with cozy and comfortable beds, a huge dining room, two living rooms and an open kitchen with all appliances you want. Even spices and coffee in different flavors for the Keurig machine are there. Sitting in the swing on the front porch and sipping a cup of coffee or having dinner in the nice backyard, there are so many lovely spots in and around this property to discover! The neighborhood is quiet and friendly and I was out for a run one morning to explore the area and everyone was greeting me like I was a resident for years there. I’m so glad I found this place! My only mistake was booking it just for two days… next time I will stay at least for a week! PS: did I mentioned that the owner Tavares is such a nice person and keeps you informed about the check in process. Talking to him is like talking to a friend. And don’t forget to check out his handbook at the house! It explains everything and gives you inside tips where to go and where the good (food) places are…👍 Sould I say something about the gift bag Tavares left for us on the table with “The Lafayette House” goodies? Or was it just for us…? 😇 Thanks for that again! We will remember your house with every sip of coffee from the Lafayette mug…😍

My family said unisono after 5 minutes at the house: WE LOVE IT! And my wife asked me later if we can move in for ever… I guess this will answer the question what we “didn’t like”… 😆

This is an adorable property and it becomes immediately obviously the owner wants you to have a good experience and feel welcome. This vintage era home is warm and welcoming with everything you can possibly need and more. The neighborhood is very nice and feels completely safe. A lot of care went into the decorating and it shows. A little kitschy, somewhat humorous, and certainly unique- I loved it! They have carefully prepared notebooks that give you information about the area, nearby restaurants and bars, and things to see and visit. The kitchen is beautiful and fully equipped for cooking and meals. I was pleasantly surprised that the air conditioning kept up with the heat wave we are experiencing. The beds are neither firm nor soft, but might be slightly more firm than some would love. I found it perfectly fine. The sweet amenities like the Lafayette House monogrammed towels, the selection of Keurig coffee pods, and the wonderful gift bag made us feel special!

I will give heads-up that the kitchen floor has about a 6 inch step up and down, so this wouldn’t work well for those with very limited mobility. You must be careful. Everything was perfectly clean, however, I was a bit surprised, and they likely are not aware, that the cleaning service should do some cleaning of the door jamb areas and dusting the decorative wall molding in the bathroom-nothing major and something which could be done quickly.

The house was excellent, the family enjoyed their stay. The location was great, it was close to family, shopping, restaurant and entertainment.

The door knob on the blue bedroom door needs repair, kept falling off. 🙂
