Breakfast excellent - farm eggs Location as expected - I knew the area

We had a lovely time staying here, the weather was great (after it was quite bad on the previous stops during our trip) and it was fun sitting on the deck during the afternoons. There was an outlook to the hills off to the west, something to which to look out on when we put down our books. The breakfast was good, scrambled eggs on toast a bit of luxury compared to cereal and toast at home. The induction hot plate was brilliant to use, so quick to do the cooking. I enjoyed the coffee from the capsule machine. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom is spacious. We didn't use the outdoor bath, which is ironic seeing as it was one of the reasons for booking here. Still, it was quite cool overnight, or so we told ourselves when deciding not to give it a go! The Cottage is not far from Otaki by car, although, as determined walkers we did go a little way along Otaki Gorge Road on foot. We were aiming for a bridge and instead came to The Pots Reserve. Down a bit of a track and you are at the side of the river, a good spot to munch on some lunch. Note, there is no footpath and very little roadside verge at times, you need to take care as you make your way along the road. I'd say that if you want somewhere to relax, take it easy and enjoy some quiet time, Waiora Cottage is a great place to do so.

We could have been more bold, filled the outdoor bath and soaked under the stars! Next time! Evidently the process of filling the bath and getting the heating unit going (to maintain the water temperature) takes about an hour, you need to put in some effort to enjoy the experience.
