Matera Villa Mater

Good location just a short drive from Matera.

Monika is a kind, helpful and efficient hostess. Upon arrival, we found a bottle of wine, milk and water in the fridge. Coffee, tea, salt, pepper, oil and vinegar are supplied. The one-room, ground floor apartment is spotless, quiet, comfortable, and spacious enough for 2 people and a child, with a walk-out to a lovely terrace and a beautiful swimming pool. We were offered to make use of the washing machine. The apartment is located in the country, at best a 15 minute drive to Matera.

Monica was a perfect host ensuring everything was to our satisfaction. We had milk, tea, coffee, water and even wine provided. The pool was great and it was good to have garden space. It was quiet and a little haven away from the busy Matera yet we were near enough to visit this amazing city easily. The apartment was newly renovated and very comfortable. This property would also work well for an extended family as there are 3 apartments in total. Monica provided us everything we needed for a really pleasant stay.

There was nothing to dislike except you do need a car. Also if you do not like cats the owner has two and there are a few visiting cats here too.

What this place offers is a wonderful villa with a good quality living space. More than enough kitchen appliances and outside living spaces. Spacious garden and swimming pool. An honest couple that are VERY hard working and will do their best to make your stay positively memorable. Some websites may gives the impression that the swimming pool is private. In a way, it is to the villa. However, The villa does rent out 2 apartments, and a studio. So some other guests may be expected. However, this would never stop me from booking their villa again in the future. For foreign customers, it is a great place to fly to. Simple things like water, tea, coffee, milk and some other treats are already provided upon your arrival. If you are travelling through, and need to do laundry, just ask, and give an honest refund for the use. That will give others in the future the same possibility. Follow their tips to visit Matera and your stay will be worth your money. For the owners, We wish you and your kids the best of life.

Booking.com gives you the idea that it is a private house for you alone. It's not. You have to share te pool. But it is not a problem at all because everyone has his own plans for the day. We were most of the time alone at the pool. The appartments are very private and big so it feels like your own house. The pool is by the way big enough to share with other people.

Nice pool space, a lot of things to do for kids (pool, trampoline,pool toys).The kids were very happy. Good size of apartment.

You need to wear a swimming cap(you can buy from a lady) and green blue towels left by the lady if you use them you have to pay. The pillows were not comfortable. There are 3 apartments in a villa. Don't think what a full villa is just for you. Villa is 10 min away from Mattera. You need a car.

Great villa and pool just a short drive from Matera. Definitely a great location to explore the area and then return to chill by the pool ☺️

The location was perfect - a little out of town so nice and quiet. Excellent grounds to the house and the owner is very friendly and helpful with suggestions of where to go both for day trips and restaurants

We loved the villa, and were lucky enough to have the whole complex to ourselves. It is pretty well kitted out, and very nicely decorated. The pool area is fab. The beds are comfortable, and the air-conditioning is EXCELLENT. There are also screen doors if you'd prefer the fresh air but don't want mosquitoes (though there aren't as many as I expected in Southern Italy!). The best thing about it was Monika, the host, who was so helpful and thoughtful, asking us if we needed anything, and recommending places nearby.

The cats in the garden (one pet, two feral, four feral kittens) were rather annoying, mewing and clawing at the screen door when we were cooking, and rubbing against our legs when we were walking to and from the pool. They were fine once you'd actually settled outside though, largely leaving us alone then. Cat lovers will probably be happy, but we're both allergic :(
