Ropery Cottage - Cyanacottages

The cottage was lovely and in a good location. The two bedrooms downstairs were good with the beds being comfortable and both having en-suites. It was clean throughout and the hot tub was large, warm and checked daily. It was well stocked with cooking equipment and had all the appliances. The views over the Esk were wonderful and the living/dining room was spacious.

There are a couple of things that could of been better, the first is when you return in the dark the steps in between the gate and hot tub are not lit up, there is light near the gate and lights near the cottage but not over the actual steps and in our party of 5 two tripped and fell but luckily only resulting in a couple of bruises. The other thing is the upstairs bedroom and bathroom, the bedroom is in the loft which is very comfortable but also very low due to the shape of the apex roof which if you don’t bend over when getting in or out you bang your head. You do get used to the bed/bedroom but the bath I couldn’t as it was tucked under the apex roof in the bathroom. I am only 5ft 8 inches but couldn’t sit up at the end of the bath as I kept hitting my head so I had to kneel in the middle which wasn’t easy and trying to stand up was even worse, I tried twice and gave up and ended up using one of the downstairs bedroom en-suite which was inconvenient at times as I accidentally woke up family using that bedroom whilst showering. Overall the cottage is ideal apart from the couple of issues. I would stay there again if only two bedrooms downstairs were needed but if three rooms were needed I wouldn’t unless they installed a full sized shower.
