Casa do Souto - Alojamento Local no Douro

A wonderful stay! Fatima, Joao, Daniel and his friend went out of their way to make us feel like part of their family. It was unique! We left a piece of our heart there, our child didn't want to leave! We were greeted with a large vase of homemade peaches and port wine. Every morning Joao brought treats, bread, butter, fruit, various delicacies, we didn't even have to worry about breakfast! The hosts prepared a wonderful dinner for us, it was an unforgettable evening. They often served us wine, cocktails and other drinks and snacks. And he always greeted us with a wonderful smile. The apartment has everything you need, a large kitchen with olive oil and spices, coffee, tea. The shower is small, but the water runs very well. I really enjoyed having breakfast on the terrace, it's amazing. The pool is amazing, the hosts went out of their way to respect our privacy. They have a talking parrot which really impressed us and our child. Thanks Daniel for the wine tasting and tour. If we are ever in Portugal we will definitely stop by no matter how far we have to travel. You will all remain members of our family too!

The location was extremely quiet, the local people were exceptionally kind and hospitable and made us feel extremely welcome. Freshly baked bread and pastries were delivered at 8 am every morning to our patio table by our friendly hosts Joao and Fatima. They invited us for port in the cellar and on our second evening we were taken to a cellar just below our apartment where we were introduced to the ancient process of crushing the grapes by feet in a concrete bath to make port. Although the bedrooms were small, the beds were comfortable and clean and the huge terrace was wonderful. The weather was too cool for the lovely swimming pool unfortunately. We went there with a hire car and we had safe and secure parking on the premises. We did day trips from there to Pinhao and Peso de Regua. This was a highlight of our visit to Portugal and highly recommended.
