Casa Da Avo Clementina

We liked everything about this apartment! The beds were very comfortable, it was spotless, had everything you needed including a washing machine. We particularly liked the location which was walking distance to all of the main sights in the old town. Our host, Hugo, was absolutely the best host we have ever had. He collected us from the airport, gave helpful and useful advice on everything. Can't be faulted! Would definitely recommend - and he has another nearby property for more people which looks stunning. Madeira has something for everyone and we loved it! We would recommend hiring a car if you're staying a bit longer (we were there for a week). Drivers are courteous and polite on the whole.

There is nothing about this property we didn't like. A perfect base for exploring, which we did a lot of!

Excellent location. Three minutes walk from a bakery, 12 mins from a supermarket. Some nice restaurants around. Close to the bus stops.

The communication: Hugo the owner of the house is a very welcoming person, explains and suggests what to visit, where to eat, where to rent a car, where to and not park. He was in contact with us almost every day, asking if all was fine. Kindness: Hugo picked us up and dropped us at the airport, welcomed us with so many gifts ( exotic fruits from Madeira, wine, chocolates). He arranged a tourist guide. House: as described. All what you need is there. Although we stayed only 8 nights, Hugo arranged the cleaning. It is situated near everything (buses, shops). Hugo will hand you a map and will explain what's best to visit. We really can't complain. We have enjoyed staying here and are recommending you too. Hugo speaks English so don't be skeptical. Our friendly host was always available to help. We liked the quiet courtyard, and the comfortable, clean apartment. Location was quiet and a short walk to the city centre.

Hugo was an amazing host, gave us so much useful information about the area and responses super quickly to any questions we had throughout our stay. The flat was well decorated and had everything we could need, plus was in an excellent location to access the city

The only problem was the parking spot that you need to park in a public parking the other side of the apartment

All very clean, well organised and comfortable. The host, Hugo, was exceptionally helpful.

A beautiful house with courtyard in a quiet location close to the center of Funchal. And last but not least, a relaxed host who is there for you at the right times, who will pick you up from the airport, spoil you with wine and delicacies and with excellent tips for trips and restaurants.

I travel a lot and I won't exaggerate if I say that Hugo was the best host I have ever had. He went above and beyond to make our stay unique. Not only did he pick us up from the airport but also offered a drop off after our stay. We were welcomed with exotic fruits, cookies, cake, local wine and a bottle of water. Hugo also shared with us all his recommendations on where to eat/drink, what to see, how to organize things etc. Our stay in Casa da Avo Clementina was truly amazing and if we are ever back to Madeira (one can hope!) we will definitely stay here again. It was one of my best trips! Obrigada!
