Chiff Chaff

A perfect little home for a short break. It was extremely clean and the little additional touches such as the complimentary bottle of wine and biscuits on arrival made it even more special. We travelled with our dogs and the hosts had left dog towels and treats for them too. Well worth a visit.

Our check in was 4pm which is a late check in and the cottage wasn’t ready to occupy at 4pm.

Very comfortable and well equipped, had everything we needed. Lovely and quiet with a good restaurant up the road.

High standard of furnishings, very comfy bed, with an efficient washing machine and tumble dryer and everything you need to cook with. There was a delightful starter pack and Netflix available as well as a tv. The Apple Inn nearby served good quality generous meals and dogs were most welcome too. Although we didn't use it, guests in Chiff Chaff Cottage are invited to use the pool in the adjacent spa though this needs to be booked in advance. The cottage is situated at the end of a row of cottages with other holiday lets nearby but all guests were friendly and respectful with plenty of allocated parking and public green spaces.

We had a problem with the hot water flow - air in the pipes created a loud howling noise when a shower was taken. However, having left a message with the management team, a friendly; knowledgeable member of the maintenance staff turned up in person about 10 mins after having left a voicemail to the housekeeping team, and resolved the problem to our satisfaction. This did not spoil our holiday at all.

I loved it. I wish we could have stayed longer. It was a short stay overnight as we were travelling onwards the next day. The house was beautiful, new, modern and tastefully decorated. Quiet. Good facilities including a spa and swimming pool which we didn’t get a chance to use. It looked like ex estate workers houses. Very near the coast. But only a mile to the main road North/South. So nice. Excellent standard throughout. Spacious. Warm and comfortable.

A few things were missing. Tea bags, dust cloth, pan scrubber etc. But we booked and arrived late so I don’t think they had finished the room. The shower pipes made a strange loud noise. The shower wall tiles could do with a bleach. Some mold. We didn’t have WiFi as we were travelling from abroad and so communication was a little difficult. The pass code I received was different from the one I was eventually given. But none of that detracted from the beauty of the place.

Location was great. Loved all the facilities in kitchen and laundry. Bathroom and shower both large as was the lounge area.

Only minor things. Surprisingly noisy plumbing and could hear neighbours. Skylights were annoyingly high to close. No shampoo conditioner. Bed was two king singles zippered so a little uncomfortable. Avoid the middle!

Quiet location but within a short driving distance of Bamburgh and Seahouses in particular - great base for a stay exploring Northumberland. The cottage is perfect for a couple, lots of room and nice facilities.
