"A nice stay in Chester but be aware of parking!"

7.0

Good location, close to station and not far from town itself. Sleeping 5 with 5 beds (the super king can be made into 2 singles) was excellent. Overall pretty clean, beds comfortable and road is quiet. Lounge is cozy albeit a little small for 5/6 people, dining room is a good size and nice to have.

NO PARKING AT THE PROPERTY DESPITE ACCESSIBLE PARKING BEING LISTED. There are 2 car parks at the end of the road but please be aware that the road the house is on is permits only and surveyed often. The vendors won’t/can’t give permits as spoken about on the listing so please don’t rely on this as it is out of date and I’ve suggested they remove this ASAP. It’s quite unclear on the road signs when parking is allowed. The road is also narrow so if travelling down to park and unload, please be aware that it is a little tricky to turn around! The kitchen is very small for 5/6 people and would benefit from a dishwasher, even if this was a small counter top one. The heating was also a little tricky to work out.

Comfortable, clean and within walking distance to city centre. Bathroom had shower over bath, and a storage unit for your toiletries. Shampoo and conditioner provided. Kitchen well equipped with plenty of crockery. Separate dining room with sitting for 6. Bedrooms are spacious with plenty of storage space. No parking outside property (residence pass) but Brook Street car park at end of road only charged us £11.50 for Friday to Monday. You can park outside while you unload car. Small yard with seating available for sunny days. Hosts answered phone immediately for query, and emailed to check everything going well with visit.

"Wouldn't stay again due to rude manager"

5.0

The location was great as it was a short walk to the city centre.

We stayed in December, which is cold at the best of times but even colder in an old house and with toddlers that's challenging. The temperature timer is controlled by the manager, of which I had to call to amend the temp and timings it came on. It could have been an easy fix but the manager was rude to me on the phone and even went as far as trying to 'educate' me on the temperature a room should be for my 2 year old. The heater was set to come back on if it dropped below 15 degrees. It was freezing overnight, and we had two 2 year olds who wouldn't keep a blanket on. As a mother, I know the temperature my child is comfortable with in winter, not to mention we were staying in the room that didn't have the sensor, so it was even colder. There's no out of hours number, so the first night, we were freezing as there was no one to call to amend the heating and nothing in the accommodation manual that was left on how to fix it. The radiator in the living room wasn't working, so it was freezing in there. When I spoke to the manager on a Saturday about fixing it she advised she would send someone Monday to sort it. After explaining we were leaving Sunday, she finally sent someone out that night. Crazy that she was willing to let the room be freezing for two nights due to it being a weekend. We booked the accommodation so there was somewhere to relax after the kids went to bed. It's pretty hard to relax in a room with no heating in an old house in December. It's not the cleanest place. There are lots of cobwebs and mild mold in the bathroom. The bathroom window didn't close properly. Bedroom doors would open when the front door opened. They were old and didn't close well. Parking is limited to one car on a weekend, which isn't stated in the description. Parking on the road is tight. Super small road. Once you drive in, you can only reverse out if the parking is full.
