The Lookout Penthouse

Spacious, very clean, good facilities. Free parking.

Parking is a bit tight even with a mid sized car. But it’s free.

Historic building right on the quayside. While the building itself has seen grander times, the apartment was very clean and tastefully renovated with everything necessary, including a good selection of cookware and utensils. Although on the 3rd (top) floor of the building it was easily reached by elevator. We had a small issue tripping one of the fuses but Paul, the owner, was very helpful giving us guidance where to find the fuse box and the problem was easily fixed. There is plenty of parking space on site, at least for "out of peak season".

We liked this apartment a lot and have nothing negative to say about it. The building is victorian and there are a lot of fire doors when entering from the car park, which can be awkward if you are moving heavier luggage. Locating the key box is obvious when you know where it is, but opening it, even with the correct code was a little difficult.

The location was excellent for our short stay. Right on the Quay and just a short walk from the beach and the Electric Palace. The views of the sunrise from the accommodation were stunning. Parking was good.

We found the lock box for the keys a little tricky to open. It caused a few minutes anxiety but we managed in the end. The host had provided a contact number so we did have an option to get help if we'd needed to.

Fabulous location overlooking the estuary with good views from the apartment which was on the top floor. The apartment is warm, comfortable and well furnished and although we would have preferred a king sized bed rather than a standard double there were also two single beds which we used instead and which were comfortable.

There is quite a long walk from the carpark to the lift in the foyer through narrow, quite dinghy hallways with many heavy fire doors in between, it would have been good to have been made aware of this in advance as it was quite a struggle with heavy luggage. We discovered that there are two carparking spaces at the front of the building for off loading but these were sometimes taken up by builders. Although we always managed to park in the carpark behind the building, it is on a first come first serve basis and a bit cramped.

The Lookout is superb. A lovely hide away. Spotlessly clean, warm, comfortable and quiet. The host was brilliant, great communication and very attentive. Highly recommended.

No dislikes whatsoever. Superb.

Lovely views and close to the Old Bank where I was doing an art workshop.

There was no hot water in the bathroom when I got there but Paul got a plumber around as soon as he could to fix it.

Location, quiet and view

The rest of the building is a bit shabby inside but not under the control of the owner I am sure. The flat itself is clean, modern and spacious for a couple. Great views, you could sit all day looking out the window at the tankers berthing!

Large flat. Clean and comfortable with all necessary facilities. Great location with super view of estuary. Perfect for a mini break.

Only minor issue was with shower. Struggled to get much water flow with warm enough water.

Good location with a good view. Large, warm, comfortable rooms.

My son found the single bed to be too short. Kitchen could have benefitted from a wok for quick stir fry meals.

The views out of every window are spectacular. There is an elevator, which is great for disabled visitors (or too much luggage.) The decor is well thought out and peaceful.

There were problems with the shower, but the management were helpful and it was fine.
