Casa da Rocha de Baixo by An Island Apart

The house is very well i fully equipped - kitchen has absolutely everything you might need. There is enough space even for four people. Beds and towels are clean and house was well cleaned before arrival. Welcome basket with treats :) Very nice ocean view.

The house had an intense smell of mold! This is not due to its proximity to the ocean or humid environment, but rather because of moisture coming from the floor and the roof (visible leaks). Surrounding area is quite depressing - one of the poorest part of Madeira with houses that reflect this in their architecture and overall appearence. The charm of the place was also spoiled by really sick cats occupying the outdoor ferniture and begging for food. Bathroom needs renovation - shower is terrible. Occasional issues with Wi-Fi.

Op het buitenbankje miste een overtrek. We moesten op onze eigen handdoeken zitten. Personeel vertelde dat het overtrek in de was was. Maar dan verwacht ik hem de volgende dag wel schoon terug om het kussen. De terras stoelen van riet zaten echt niet relaxed de pannen en braadslee waren enorm goor en oud en zelfs kapot. Na mijn bericht is er een set nieuwe pannen gebracht. De braadslee is niet omgeruild. Erg jammer want dit moet je eigenlijk op voorhand al doen. Katjes waren leuk maar vervuilen het tuinmeubilair.

The appartament have a terrible smell of mold, the rooms are very small and toilette don't have any confort (less than 2 square meters), is in an area where the phone doesn't have any connections signal of wif router very bad, if you need a place to be isolated from the world it s perfect.

Amazing location, you really feel away from the world! Because of other reviews we expected little sun at the end of February, but we could sunbathe all day at the house and even swim in the natural pool in front of the house! We had an amazing, relaxing stay.

The road to and from the house is good (paved etc), but it is steep. You might want to minimise the trips away from the house, but with this location that might not be too bad..

The check-in process was excellent, good communication from well before our arrival. On arrival, we found all the essentials and more, fresh fruit, wine, charcoal, and fire starters, as well as all the required cleaning products. All more than we have experienced with previous accommodation. The facility is also well equipped for teenagers, WiFi, plugs for UK and EU as well as ample USB ports. The BBQ equipment is ample, be warned the charcoal in Madeira is not great. We loved the location, crashing waves, banana plants, papaya trees, all you need to unwind. The facilities in the cottage are all adequate and we did not want for anything.

Nothing, the ferile cats are initially a concern but ignore them and they drift off.

The apartment is small but very comfortable with a beautiful external relax and chilling area. The place is far from the nearest city, this could be a pro or a con, it was a pro for us as you could have all the area for yourself
