Ballarat House

We loved our stay in Ballarat house. It is beautifully designed, with a gorgeous garden, quiet, with all mod cons, spacious rooms, fully equipped kitchen. Our host was extremely helpful and responsive, excellent communication. The house is located perfectly near the beaches, and the old town. We enjoyed every moment of our family holiday and would love to return as Amelia's guests in future. Thank you Amelia!

Good size flat, good location, nicely decorated.

The bed was lumpy and squidgy and very low and just plain old uncomfortable. The flat was nicely decorated but tired - looked like nothing had been done since the original decoration and the bathroom was filthy - orange scum and hairs on the bathroom floor. There was a leak from the flat above while we were there, and the flat above is really noisy when occupied - no sound separation at all. I didn't enjoy the check in process or the clarity of communication - the flat is 'managed' by a Canadian agency who email asking you to upload ID documents to their portal. They are very prompt with email replies - but very scant on actual detailed information and instructions. I found the entire process hugely frustrating and it really felt very much like a scam.

The house was lovely, clean and spacious. the kitchen and living rooms are a delight.

The heating was broken and took 24 hours to be fixed, and we had to sleep in hoodies as upstairs was too cold. It took too long for the problem to be fixed, greatly affecting the enjoyment of the stay.

Nothing not to like

The flat was big and clean. Internet worked OK.

After I booked, they called and asked me to cancel my booking because they had an issue with the flat. I told them I wasn't going to. The next day, they called me again and said that if I didn't want to cancel they can "fix" the flat in time for my reservation if I paid a bit more. I said no again, so they went back to asking me to cancel. In the end I didn't cancel and my stay was OK, but I don't appreciate the hosts attempt to get more money out of me. Also, the bed was broken.
