Sotoura Beach House Shimoda - Less thank 1 min walk to Sotoura Beach!

This is a great beach house just outside the town of Shimoda. We wanted a break from the big cities on our two-week Japan trip and this was the perfect place. It's very spacious for Japan, which allowed our family to have separate areas to hang out when needed. Billy is an awesome host. He was quick to answer the few questions we had and even set us up with someone for a tour of the area. We wished we could have stayed longer. We knew it ahead of time so it didn't bother us yet it's worth noting this location isn't that walkable to a lot of places outside of the Sotoura Beach area. A bike, bus, or taxi will be helpful if you don't have a car. Between taxis and a hired driver, it worked fine for us.

Very well equiped kitchen and walking distance from the beach. Amazing bakery some meters away (but you just get bread if coming from 7-8 :)) Quiet beach. Nice host regarding communication. Shower outside when coming from the beach is functional.

Fair Cleanliness (sticky floors, dirty windows). Not possible to open windows due to mosquitos, since the nets were broken and damaged ans was not possivle to air up the facilities . We received indication from host how to call a taci but they never wanted to come, when they realized we were not talking japanese. Very steep stairs to the first floor (rooms) .

Everything that we would ever need was provided. It was very close to the beach and it was clean and comfortable. We’ll definitely stay again. 😄

It's situated very close to Sotoura beach, and the house itself is quite big and comfortable.

owner is very accommodating, locations is very good and the house has everything we need to stay comfortable.

We loved having the space after 2 weeks travelling Japan and staying in rather small hotel rooms. The house is so well decorated and equipped we loved it. The colours, decor were just so great. Very close walk to beach, delicatessen and bakery. Extremely quiet town, hardly came across any other people. Billy and his wife were so friendly and helpful. Interesting history in Shimoda town.

The weather was awful- but that's what you get for July in Japan! Rain rain and humidity. No negatives about the house. We should have got International drivers licence so we could have hired a hire and done some more exploring...the house was too far to tourist attractionsto explore on foot.

The house was very neat with an interesting interior decor. All the facilities were excellent.
