Very clean, neat and comfortable. Very friendly and helpful

An upgrade would be nice regarding asthetics. Better lighting in braai room. A basin in the en suite will be nice

The reason why we come to Arniston every year is for the ocean.

Our motor vehicle has been broken into on the premises as it is not secured and safe for the patrons living in the cottages. Maybe a close up garage will make me more at ease should I return.

We LOVED our way too short visit to Arniston Cottage. The accommodation is basic - if you're looking for luxury there are other options. If you want lived experience, it's wonderful. Doreen was so welcoming and friendly, she put us at ease immediately. The beds were clean and comfortable and the kitchen provisions were suitable to our needs. We had a fire in the outdoor braai area each evening and spent lovely quality family time together. We only heard 'I'm bored' once, when the teens realised there was no WiFi. I loved it. I got to see their faces and play card games and chat. We walked out to the Waenhuiskrans Cave which was very exciting and over the hill to the other side there's a glorious swimming spot, and the two local cafes/restaurants give you eating out options depending on how local you want to go. There's also the Spa Hotel a 2-minute walk away, with great meal options and very friendly and accommodating staff. We couldn't be happier with our stay.

"We enjoyed our stay in Kassiesbaai but wouldn't stay at Arniston Cottage again for my reasons given."

5.0

The location of the property is excellent, in Kassiesbaai which is a heritage area, with a view of the sea and within walking distance of the little harbour and the Arniston Hotel. I liked it that I stayed in one of the traditional fisherman's cottages and that the house is lovely and spacious and the bed I slept in was very very comfortable and the bedding was clean.

I feel that some aspects of cleanliness need to be addressed. I had read the bad reviews before booking so assumed that this must have been attended to but there were a few things that need attention. The house is generally clean but there were children's hand prints on the window between the lounge and the braai room that had clearly been there for a long time. The main bedroom's windows were also so dirty that I could hardly see out of them. The patio had also not been swept and there were rusted beer bottle tops lying around. The steps leading off from the patio have been used as an ashtray and there were stompies (cigarette butts) galore. Sorry, I am not a smoker and I found this quite disgusting. It literally took my 5 mins to sweep the patio and I feel that this should have been done prior to my arrival and all the cigarette butts picked up and disposed of. Also, the bathroom mats in the bathroom look old and worn and didn't feel clean to me. The house is old on the inside and does need some modernisation, especially the kitchen. It wasn't cheap at R3420 for 2 nights and I expect a little bit more at this price. Both bathrooms need different window coverings as when the light is on at night, people on the outside can see in.
