The Shepherd's Hut

Great facilities in a fantastic location, quiet and calm, the site is really well organised as there are multiple units to rent, but all have their privacy. Fantastic host, Isobel came around in minutes to deal with a slight problem we had. Would definitely look at booking again if we need to stay in the area, and worth trying the amazing strawberries that are grown on the farm.

Beautiful location with a view of horses. We also met a very friendly cat on the property. There are farm shops nearby which we made use of. The firepit was great for cooking and relaxing in the evening. The hut had everything we needed for a weekend. It was hot but this was due to the overall temperature outside (everywhere was hot). The hut itself had a fan and plenty of windows to allow for a breeze, this worked fine for us. The surroundings were peaceful and quiet. We found it very easy to get to from Stowe Gardens, which I would recommend visiting. I think it is a very reasonably priced stay.

The only criticism I could make is that I could not find an iron in the hut. This wasn't needed, so we didn't contact the owners as I'm sure they would have helped (they messaged us before we arrived and let us know we could contact them if we needed anything).

The shepherd’s hut is based on a working farm offering beautiful views, with friendly horses in the neighbouring fields. It is very clean and cozy, with everything you need for a short stay. The local area is dotted with little villages built in traditional Cotswold stone, and there are plenty of good local pubs and restaurants if you want to eat out. We definitely recommend The Fox Inn in Souldern.

Beautiful location, lovely little hut, peaceful. Good layout with well utilised storage for size of property. Isobel is a great host and swiftly exchanged a broken toaster that tripped the switch a couple of times.

Uncomfortable mattress, the fridge wasn’t very clean and the freezer compartment completely frosted up due to either a faulty door or having been left open by previous tenants, people walking past the front of the hut, needs a couple of sharp knives, some kitchen foil and kitchen roll and some all purpose spray, a scouring sponge for washing pots. Very personal opinion but the blinds and bedding don’t match with the vibe of the hut, with a few little upgrades would be lovely and somewhere I would stay again.
