Location, clean and comfortable

I would normally have said that it was the worst place that I had ever stayed in but as it was so poor we decided not to stay. The place is simply poor, the furniture is all extremely old and dilapidated and there isn't even any wardrobes, simply cheap hanging rails. The main problem however was the cleanliness, or lack of it! The cooker had been well used and not cleaned at all. The fridge still had partially consumed food in it and there was congealed old food on the door seal of the dishwasher. The whole place was in need of redecoration The bed linen was grey with age and grubby, the bed cover in the main bedroom had long hairs on it and even the decorative cushions were falling apart. In short I seriously recommend that people don't stay there, this is a shame because the position is good but the owners need to get their act together and spend some money and renovate the house by redecoration, replacing the furniture and certainly replacing the carpet which appeared to be many years past it's "use by date". We did telephone the owners and asked politely for a refund but they refused, when I contacted Booking.com I had a couple of replies which were not satisfactory but now they appear to be ignoring my emails. Obviously I intend to pursue the refund request until I receive it. This is the very first review of this nature that. I have ever given, most places have minor problems but was major and we were not prepared to stay in such poor quality accommodation . Fortunately we have visited and travelled New Zealand on numerous occasions so we know that this is not the norm of NZ accommodation.

Large rooms, 3 good size bedrooms (1 double, 2 with twin beds). Plenty of heaters when cold. Washing machine / dryer available. Located in a very nice part of Dunedin just a 2 min walk from a great beach and very good pubs and restaurants.

Property is very tired and needs updating throughout. Back yard is open to neighbours and again needs updating.

Superb location, just a short walk to St Clair beach. Lovely and quiet. Easy parking in front of the house. Just around the corner from the bus stop which takes you to the city, botanic gardens and Baldwin St. Plenty of space for 6 people. Easy communication with the very helpful hosts.

We didn’t find the spare toilet rolls, washing powder, detergent etc until the last day. We had our own so it didn’t bother us but written information on where to find things might be helpful for others.

Good location . Warm inspite of being older house. We all had our own spaces which is what we 3 needed.

Windows could do with a spring clean Maybe .
