The property is filled with the most amazing fruit trees!! The best most beautiful hikes and walks to do. As soon as I arrived a felt calm. What a relaxing place to be.

The surroundings are magnificent, couldn't ask for a better little natural oasis. The house and facilities and brae area are perfect! Such a beautiful place and very close to town to get to restaurants and bars. Super quiet so perfect for anyone who wants to escape to their own personal wilderness. Julia and Co are just brilliant and so helpful. Would love to stay again!

Everything!! This is by far the best place to experience Clarens. The property is perfect and Julie has really gone above and beyond in terms of making the place presentable and accommodating. We have stayed here twice this year and will def be back again

"Great location on the edge of Clarens in a character building with history"

Amazing location - close enough to pop into Clarens but far enough out to feel separate and with the cliffs and caves right behind. We really enjoyed sitting around the outdoor braii, even in the cold winter evenings. Building with history and character.

Clarens is often described as an oasis in the Free State. Well, The French Cottage is an oasis in Clarens. The location is absolutely fantastic and although you are in Clarens you have privacy and a magnificent secluded cave and trails to delight.
