Casa do Curral Velho

The apartment is very spacious and the kitchen has everything you need. The bed was comfortable and there were heaters and dehumidifiers for us to use. The shower was exceptional! Great terrace with sun chairs, view over the ocean, bbq and seating. There was a laundry machine we could use.

- The apartment smellt quite bad from mold, it got a little bit better day 2 but it was very aparent still during our stay. - It was also freezing our first night and it never really warmed up during our days there. - You have to have a car and the road to get there is extremely narrow. It is not a location for a large car or someone who is a bit unsure behind the wheel. - We had a storm 2 days and it rained in from under the main entrance door. This could explain the damp smell if this happens from time to time since madeira is a tropical island

The apartment is recently renovated and everything looks good and new. We liked the view. Comfortable bed. The apartment is on the second floor. The owners live on the first floor and available for questions. There is a dehumidifier there! The most essential device for Madeira climate. Drive in and parking in a carport is relatively convenient. Santana is a perfect location to explore the north coast. Not far away from airport and capital, but still on the north. Two hiking starting points are nearby: Queimadas and Achada do Teixeira. Santana also has an only large supermarket on the whole north coast, so you can buy delicious food right there. No such option in Porto Moniz or Seixal.

Knives are hopelessly blunt so we mostly used our Swiss knife in the kitchen. My constant message to all owners: sharp you knives! There are absolutely no coat racks or something anywhere. So our jackets and hiking trousers were just lying on the floor and sofas around.

Great views from the property and the owner was very welcoming. The bread and wine to welcome us was a lovely touch and much appreciated. The outside space was great and included a barbecue.

Didn’t bother us but quite a steep walk from the town to the property

Maria was very friendly, it was big and had a beautiful terrace. Also was a walking distance from lots of restaurants nearby. Its also very spacious.

We thought it smelled a bit muff/musty in the accomodation, had to open up every window when we got back home.

The location was great, close to famous trails and still close to Funchal by car. The house has garage for one car. The terrace was beautiful with great views.

It smelled like mold, but it is probably normal in Madeira, because of wet weather. Also the beds were really uncomfortable. I would appreciate also better kitchen stuff.

Excellent and quiet place, private parking, very clean and lovely terrace. Very silent and deep in the vibe of Santana. Very useful tips from the host. Really top experience!
