Refúgio do Óscar

Při našem přechodu Peneda-Geres bylo toto ubytování to nejlepší ze všech. Krásné místo v údolí, s vybavením pro nás turisty s batohy až luxusní 😊 a košíček s vínem byl též radostné uvítán 🍷. V baru u silnice jsme potkali paní, která v domě uklízí, bohužel pro neznalost portugalštiny jsme jí nedokázali poděkovat, jak úžasně byly pokoje připraveny. Děkujeme

The location

The oven didn't work

I liked that it was very quiet and peaceful. The house had everything we needed, with a well-stocked kitchen and plenty of linens and toiletries; it was very clean and neat. Best of all, my two dogs were welcome!

Heaven forbid that an occupant has a car larger than a subcompact; the street was scary narrow, and parking in the tiny allotted space (along a tall stone wall, thus requiring good parallel-parking skills) was quite stressful (mostly because the car in the adjacent space took up too much room). There was no other parking nearby that I could see. We couldn’t get the heat to work, and the bottom floor was chilly, but there were plenty of warm duvets.

Everything

We stayed for four night in June/July with three people in this remodeled and extended old mountain village house. This house is one of the most charming we have encountered so far, with a lot of attention to detail, meticulously clean, and well maintained. Perfectly equipped with basically everything you could need on vacation. Some other reviews mentioned a heating problem or hot water noise - we did not have any of these. A big plus is the parking spot right in front of the house in the narrow street; just ask some neighbors down the street that don't have it. The perfect location to explore the national park, some trails even go right by the house. Although there is a street right in front of the house, this is not the main street in the valley, and the most "noise" came from the cows you encounter twice daily. In summary, for sure the high point of accomodations of our time in Portugal. Would we come back? For sure!

Remember this is an old remodeled house, and there are some non-standard stairs between the two levels of the house. Not a problem at all, just beware. Other than that? Nothing.

Only bathroom was downstairs with the single bedroom. No bathroom upstairs with the two bedrooms and living area.

Cosy little house in a tiny village. It has a terrace with beautiful mountain-view and grill. Several hiking tours are close-by or passing the place, and the Sanctuario do Peneda only 5 minutes away is worth a visit, too.
