Riverside Cottage Aalto Borealis

Loved our stay at the cottage! Piia and her husband did a great job at renovating it and it was hard to leave. Everything is just as described and the cottage has anything you might need. Piia is very responsive and went above and beyond to accommodate us, big thank you to her husband who dropped us off a new tv. The sauna is a great feature. Love the giant glass windows which have a view of the frozen lake and northern lights if you’re lucky.

The sleeping area is very low of ceiling so if you’re tall you might need to use the sofa bed downstairs. We’re 1.65m and couldn’t stand up, though it wasn’t a huge deal as we were only going there to sleep.

The location was fantastic, being able to sit and watch the Aurora from inside through the large windows without getting cold was wonderful. We really enjoyed the sauna too.

The main light over the kitchen area was out, we reported it on our first night of five but the host did not come and replace it. It was not possible for us to replace it as it was too high and a ladder was needed. Also although we received a reply to the first couple of messages we sent, subsequent messages went unanswered and hence the questions raised unresolved. We were also slightly frustrated that there was a hot tub at the property but we needed to pay £150 charge to use it and as we would have only used it once or twice we thought this to be excessive.

Baeutiful view and generally the place as well. Perfect accomodation. Shortly we are happy for this choice!

Excellent place to enjoy being right on the river, even from inside the cottage if it's too cold to go outside for long. Owners have made sure that the cottage has everything plus, to ensure guests have an easy and enjoyable stay. Outside decks are large and have different areas with seating. Sauna with shower is fantastic. Intend coming back again and staying longer than 2 nights. The bedroom area upstairs has a low roof, which was a bit challenging for us as we are no longer the youngest. Lovely host, lovely place. Highly recommend.
