clean, quiet and had everything. especially love that dogs were allowed. the outdoor area was awesome to hang in even though it was raining. Shelley was lovely and checked in if we needed anything.

The separate guesthouse was both extremely comfortable as well as private. I would’ve made use of the amenities in the backyard, such as the BBQ, but the weather wasn’t conducive much of the time, boy the deck patio was great to sit outside or exercise when I could. Shelley was extremely accommodating in helping me getting settled in, before I was able to get transportation she drove me to tutukaka to visit my daughter, helped me when my rental car had a flat tire, she went way above and beyond in terms of customer service.

The only thing to make mention of, and it’s minor but make sure you have a rental car, especially if you plan on going to Tutukaka or downtown Whangārei because there is no Uber or taxis in the area. Shelley helped me navigate this however by helping me secure a driver who in turn helped me to get a rental car.

The host has put a lot of work and thought in to the interior design of the unit. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you need to cook, and there were some lovely extras like drinks in the fridge, good range of teas and coffees, and some nice bath products (and great bath for two!). Lovely outdoor area. Beautiful location right by the water.

This was the first stay so some of these things will be improved in time. Whilst extras like arrival drinks were a nice touch, would probably have preferred breakfast to be provided (and need to provide a coffee plunger so can use the lovely coffee!). Guests with mobility issues should note: there is a heavy wooden-frame bed, which is up against the wall, and the frame has a high lip at the foot of the bed and there is also a wooden cabinet at the foot of the bed - this makes it tricky for the person sleeping against the wall to get in and out of the bed if there are two people in the bed.
