Casa do Simão, Açores - Now with hot tub!

Ruim huis, nieuwe jacuzzi, maar we waren er vooral om de priolo (Pyrrhula murina) te gaan zoeken en fotograferen, dichtbij het leefgebied van deze vogel en het bezoekerscentrum.

Het regende er veel en het is er vochtig, maar we zitten daar nu eenmaal in nevelwoud (cloud forest). Een host mag je nooit verantwoordelijk stellen voor slechte weersomstandigheden, daar kan niemand iets aan doen.

Drėgmė saloje neišvengiama - tam reikia nusiteikti ir naudoti name esančius drėgmės surinktuvus.

The host was very fast to respond. The house is beautiful, renovated, comfortable and the garden is amazing. You can park your car just in front of the house and it's easy to find. Careful though as Waze tries to send you up the one way first. You need to go to the next road and then you get to the house very easily. The house is well equipped with a toaster, a microwave and an oven.

The beds are kind of hard and the rooms on the ground floor are humid. There is only 1 wood fire that's not easy to get on as you don't have many little woods (and no axe to cut the bigger logs). There are two electric fires in the bedrooms (hopefully you don't need the third bedroom as there is no heater) It would be great if there were blankets or a duvet as the rooms are very chilly in April and you are obliged to use the electric heaters. They heat the rooms up fine but you'll find yourself hauling the heaters up and down the stairs. The bathrooms have no heating and get very humid, especially as the door of the shower doesn't close. I think the house is probably a lot more enjoyable when the weather gets better in Azores.

Beautiful location with beautiful views and so peaceful. The home was lovely, and the host, Pedro, was the best!
