Dreaming Taormina Apartment

The apartment was perfect. Two bedrooms with their own bathroom. Full kitchen. Close to main popular area.

On google maps it shows a very long walk up 100stairs which was not necessary. The taxi driver also gave us those same directions. Since taxis are not allowed on main tourist area. So he dropped us off Sta. Catarina Church. If we would have walked down the Main Street a little further the apartment was like 10 stairs up to the right.

Location was perfect! Right in the center so easy access to literally everything. The rooms were nice and spacious, beds were comfortable, bathrooms were very nice and modern and I really liked the design. Towels were provided as well as shower gel, which was quite helpful. The host was lovely and very responsive! Recommended some nice places to visit and was kind enough to help us store our bags somewhere as we weren’t heading to the airport until a few hours after we checked out.

AC vent in the master bedroom was a bit problematic so kept making noises which woke me up but other than that it worked fine. Access to the apartment also has quite a few stairs to come down so be mindful if you have luggage. Slightly easier to access from port messina which is only a 5 min walk away and fewer stairs to tackle

The wifi was not working. No laundry facilities- although to be fair when I looked back these were not offered but I though an apartment would have this.

The location of this apartment is excellent. It's right on the Corso in Taormina which we really liked. It was easy to find, we just walked along the corso to get there and were able to access the keys onsite and let ourselves in. The owner sent us some recommendations of where to eat, which were all very good.

The apartment needs a refresh. The living space is dark and the lounge and dining chairs are both worn out. Five days is a long time to not have a space you can comfortably sit and socialise in. We only had one towel each for 5 days, it just isn't enough in the summer. The wifi didn't work. I asked about it on the first day and was told the modem would be fixed and working the next day and I never heard back.

Kitchen/main lack atmosphere.

The apartment is the HEART of Taormina, easy to get meals/shopping, and a great vibe on the streets

The location was so, so noisy from 6:30 am both mornings. Construction nearby meant banging and yelling. Noise at night was fine, expected and manageable for the location but the morning noise was not. The amenities were lacking - soap in 1 bathroom only, very thin sheets and 1 soft pillow for each person. Extremely poor WiFi until we pulled the router out of the panel. Finally the ‘parking’ mentioned in Booking.com description was not available (closed) and no one met us to check in/help. We had to find our own parking arrangements as we circled Taormina for an hour. The manager told me on WhatsApp that parking is not in his control/responsibility. We used Parcheggio Lumbi which had a free/easy electric shuttle up to Porta Messina every 15 minutes, and was an easy 300 m walk from the apartment. €33/48 hours. Booking.com should correct its listing - no one meets you, and there is no parking, just public lots nearby to choose from. This apartment could be amazing with a little love/care/detail/attention.
