Nirvana Cottage

The large bed in the main room was very comfortable and plenty of storage space. Location next to park and shopping village was lovely. The cleaner was lovely and kept the place clean. Nathan the host made every effort to make our stay comfortable and easy. He was relaxed and full of great tips of what to do in the area. It was a very dog-friendly place. The kitchen was well-equipped.

The shower did not work due to City of Cape Town for first three weeks of our stay (now fixed). The laundry service did not return clothing clean, the sheets and bedding did not smell fresh. The towels were small. It was next to a main road on the other side of fence. The sofas were not comfortable. The TV and speakers and sound system were cheap and ancient and therefore not worth using. There was a lot of clutter around. The oven and hob worked but not that well. There was no dishwasher. The second bedroom was not fully partitioned and therefore not separated for light and sound which made its use tricky.

It is a good location. However we only stayed for 2 nights due to problems with water in area. More of this under what didn't like

We arrived on the 3rd Jan and had 2 days without water, came on 2nd day for around 3 hrs but then off again, it was an area problem. We unfortunately had to find alternative accommodation as the water outtage was indefinite. The water came on again the morning we moved, we however decided to move to a new place as we were not sure whether the water would go.off again as it did the day before. The water actually did go off again on the Saturday, saw this on the Facebook. Group and only came back on the Sunday. I don't think anyone would be able to have a holiday in accommodation without water. Was a little disappointed when asked owner if would refund for remaining days. Reason given was there were previous issues with refunds and it seems because of this i was being refused a refund. Also disappointed that Bookings.com is not really doing much about the matter either

Comfortable, private and excellent location. Good value for money.

The location was one of the main features, centered within 25 minutes of almost everywhere in Cape Town, including the airport. The added safety enhanced this little cottage and made us feel secure. The size of the main bedroom is huge and the bed is comfortable. The smaller bedroom, located near the front door, is adequate for another couple or kids. The fireplace was cozy on the cold winter nights, although this heat extended to the living room and kitchen areas only. We bought a small space heater to heat the rooms after a shower. The outside seating area would have been fantastic for a bbq if the weather had played along. And, we would definitely stay here again. While the cottage is older than many other accommodations we've stayed in, there are numerous benefits and we highly recommend a stay.The host, Nathan, went out of his way to make us feel at home. We recommend a brighter light above the bathroom sink and a mixer in the shower as it was a bit difficult finding the correct hot/cold water temperature. An improvement during load shedding could include a rechargeable emergency light instead of the little motion detector ones.

The host was amazing, friendly and helpful. The location is perfect. The property is kept clean and tidy and you feel warm and welcome from the first day. Thanks Nathan and the family and Nirvana cottage team.
