Paparoa Beach Hideaway with Hot Tub

Having once stayed in a basic beachside lodge, this far surpassed our expectations. The wood-panelled house is surrounded by greenery and birdlife, with a view toward the sea. It comprises a lovely lounge, a bedroom beyond, and connecting, large bathroom. We had a key to, but did not use, a a hot tub a short distance away. The lounge has a large dining table, sofa and chair, attractive modern prints, micro-wave and good cooking facilities. Cupboards are well stocked with cutlery and crockery. A gas stove, radiator and heavy curtains keep the place warm at night. The soft bed is very comfortable. We loved the characterful, rocky All Nations pub with a decent menu, three minutes’ drive away, (open from 11am, closed Mondays) but there is nowhere else nearby.

Host Chris provides fresh milk, tea, hot chocolate and coffee - plunger as well as instant. He makes clear that he does not provide breakfast, but it would surely be easy to provide cereal at least. Many overnighters like us are likely to be staying elsewhere at B&Bs that do provide breakfast, so it’s inconvenient to buy stuff for just one stop. The nearest supermarket is Greymouth, 23 km away.

The cabin is in a beautiful spot in the bush, with an easy walk to a lovely West Coast beach. Great instructions make it easy to find your way around. Very comfortable and spacious inside, with a great porch to sit on and watch the entertaining wildlife.

Everything, it was in the most amazing spot. The room was so clean, there were extra towels and the bed was super comfy. This bach is well worth the money and watching the sunset in the most amazing place was great. I would 10/10 recommend the Paparoa Beach Hideaway to friends and family.

There was nothing that I disliked

Loved the number of windows each with greenery , very private.... warm and cosy terrific western view
