Dove Cottage, Tideswell

The cottage was in a perfect location close to walks , pubs and shop. It was well fitted out with everything we needed.

The beds were a little uncomfortable and creaky, with very thin duvets.

Great location near lots of amentities, log fire and welcome biscuits milk etc was great. Nice and clean

The location of the property was perfect for our trip. Access was easy and parking was not a problem in general on the roadside. The information given was easy to access and follow. We were left some essentials to keep us going. The host was very timely in responding to several issues we had and was even prepared to come out on Christmas Day if necessary.

Sadly during our stay we lost power in the bathroom more than once, meaning the light and fan did not work. My husband showered in the dark but I had to find an alternative place to shower. Also, the heating played up. Twice not coming on at all and once coming on when it was meant to be off. We were able to make do with a fire to warm up and thankfully the weather was not freezing otherwise it would have been a bigger issue. However, it made sleeping uncomfortable and was generally a pain to have to try and manage. We went to cook one night but there was not a big enough pan for the two of us, bit odd. Sadly I feel short-changed from this visit and will have to look elsewhere for my next trip.

Beautiful town with excellent facilities, shops , pubs restaurants etc

Bed was uncomfortable, dipped in the middle. Cottage smelt horrible on arrival, it was a smell of wet dogs. We opened the windows each day and as much as we could in the night. Amenities are largely very shabby and dated. Armchair was covered in stains which were old. However, the place was clean and the bedding was clean.

Excellent for a short break. Everything you needed was there.

Double bed need replacing. Quite uncomfortable.

Bed needs a new mattress. Bathroom needs a good spring clean or replacement of grout and shower curtain. Lids for saucepans would be useful. Fridge works ok but is going rusty. Lighter interior paint would make it all brighter.
