Cerca da Ponte was a beautiful and comfortable traditional style Portuguese home. Very large, spacious and immaculate with the usual quirkiness of Portuguese charm. With a single level to most of the house excellent for mobility issues and wheelchair use. Together a large well maintained pool. Set upon a large elevated plot with outstanding views of the countryside and Almodovar the latter being within walking distance. We adore this region of Alentejo enjoying the Portuguese way of life far from the madding crowds. With the stunning steppe plains and traditional villages throughout the countryside, holm oak, meadows, streams and rivers with incredible flora and fauna. Cerca da Ponte will not disappoint as daily on the large plot of land just in front of us we saw adorable rabbits, red legged partridge, hoopoe, red backed shrikes, swifts, house martins, corn bunting, bee eaters, common kestrel, black caps, azure winged magpies, Bonnellis eagle, black kite, white stork, spotless starling, blackbirds, carpenter bee, honey bee and so much more too long to list here. Across the valley is a homing pigeon club which did not disappoint as we were regularly mesmerised by the acrobatic flight and whoosh of air the homing pigeons created as the flew by. Another on our list of homes to revisit in Portugal. Thanks to Felicidade and Luis, Tiago who helped out via phone from Switzerland! Not forgetting Lilianna and daughter (please excuse me as I am unable to remember your name) for greeting us and spending the time to talk about the locale.

Bastante alejado de todo

Grande e com todas as comodidades, a Cerca da Ponte brilha por ser uma casa com panorama.  Ora, a vista, a partir de uma colina sobranceira a Almodôvar, é servida em todo o esplendor num alpendre magnifico, espaço de convívio e de refeições, especialmente extraordinário ao pôr do sol. Um tesouro para quem aprecia a vida, o convívio e a natureza. 

Não há pontos negativos, oferece o que promete.

Gostámos de tudo. Da casa e das suas comodidades, espaço e decoração. Da piscina, do jardim, do isolamento e privacidade da propriedade, mas tão perto de tudo, com a vila mesmo ali em frente. As tardes no alpendre, das horas na piscina e as noites de luar e céu estrelado. Da atenção e simpatia dos anfitriões.

We have just returned from a wonderful 10 night stay at Cerca da Ponte. Tiago and his parents offered such warm hospitality (the welcome basket was much appreciated!) and the charming house was clean and comfortable and provided everything we needed for our stay. The property is in a peaceful, rural location with fabulous views across the hills but the main town of Almodovar is only a few minutes drive away. The gardens and pool area were well kept with parasols provided, which we were very glad of in the hot weather! The large, separate bbq area we used a couple of times but the town offers a small selection of restaurants which we also visited. Tiago was extremely responsive in his communications and we would happily return again. Para Tiago, Felicidade e Luis, obrigado e esperamos vê-lo novamente!

The location is remote which is perfect if you just want to relax. The house was very clean and comfortable. Felicidade and her husband were very welcoming and friendly. We really enjoyed the quiet and peacefulness of the house. We spent all day around the salt water pool, and barbecuing. We will definitely go again.

The only thing was the bedroom and bathroom doors. They kept getting stuck on the floor so made a lot of noise every time we opened or closed them, which would wake everyone up in the middle of the night.
