"Lovely quirky cottage with steep staircase"

7.0

Lovely quirky little cottage, nicely decorated. Absolutely stunning view of the gorge from the terrace, which is a lovely spot to unwind or have breakfast. Downstairs toilet as well as upstairs shower room. Well-stocked (crockery, glasses etc) little kitchen and dining area. Good for the price.

Very steep narrow staircase with bedrooms on separate levels. Main room with double bed is on separate level from toilet. All fine if you are fit - and part of the charm of the cottage - but not so good if you have any kind of mobility difficulty. No parking outside cottage - the recommended parking is relatively close by (drop your luggage off first), but small, and we lost our slot, which resulted in a long walk at the end of the day by the time we found somewhere else (a lot of the surrounding area is marked 'residents only').

"Lovely location, the owner was happy to reply to any queries I had."

7.0

Great location, only a 10 min walk into Iron bridge and lovely pub within a 5 min walk. The views from the garden are stunning.

There isn’t parking with the property, first come on the street parking. Or can park near the pub. Wasn’t an issue, but could be for some.

"Ironbridge is lovely but the cottage is so so."

4.0

We liked the old fashoned nature of the building. The village was lovely and would recomend going to the golden ball pub .

Not very clean. Green mold on taps, dishies dirty and not enough of any thing for a family of 4. Dog hair all over the beding.which was old an very worn. There was only one very flat pillow per person but scater coushines everyware.. The towels provided were white once but now a gray. And the mat in lounge was soaking wet when we arrived. We took off out shoes and our sockes got wet and coverd in something brown from the mat. Decking was unsafe . Tv would glitch all the time. Also rude neuboughs and hard to park on street The whole place was very dated and could do with some new furniture and linens and a deep clean. All in all rough around the edges.

"Requires more TLC and communication before guests arrive, and comparatively over-priced."

6.0

The location was very good - but as for the views of the gorge, we could only see treetops.

Did not receive any entry-instructions until the day before we left, and stood in the pouring rain awaiting our host to return our call. The property has a beautiful street-appeal, but we were disappointed as to what we found inside. The carpet/rug that greeted us is heavily worn and soiled. The sleeper couch has certainly seen better days, and was difficult to open (another call re this to the host’s second number, still remains un-answered). The spare bed linen was in disarray and bundled into the cupboards, as were various board games. The inside window ledges and other surfaces were lightly covered in dust, and the shower head leaked water continuously (most annoying). As overseas guests, we admit to possibly having slightly larger suitcases, but in any situation we do not believe that this establishment is suitable for four adults. (two adults and two children yes, but six people - never!). We did very much enjoy our (second) visit to Ironbridge however, and trust that the owners will take the above comments as the positive-criticism with which it was intended, and with the interest in mind of future guests comfort. Thank you.

"Only stay here if you have the fitness of a marathon athlete"

1.0

Location for house and parking area was inappropriate for disabled or elderly and i would imagine a young family. The road leading to the house was extremely steep and narrow. No where in the booking information did it state it was not suitable for those with mobility issues. It spoilt our break as we could not even consider staying here and drove away. Contacted the host who told me it was up to me to have researched. Awaiting a refund from booking.com as there was a lack of information and transparency by what was omitted.

"Cute cottage needs important maintenance work. NO PARKING."

5.0

Overall the cottage is in a nice location, with a fabulous view. However there were some serious issues that needed attending to. I messaged the owner about them, but sadly have received no feed back from her. Therefore I have no choice but to make others aware .......

You cannot park outside the cottage. There is parking at the pub down the hill, 5 mins walk. Upstairs..... I had no idea the bedroom is up two narrow staircases, and the bathroom is not on the same level as the main bedroom. I have mobility problems and this was not ideal for me. I got trapped in the double bedroom, because the door handle doesn't work. It took a lot of pulling and pushing to get me out. The radiator valve is broken. The bedside table has tea stains on it and is very wobbly. The towel ring in the bathroom falls off the wall. It almost hit me in the face..... We were asked to strip our beds. I could not do this because of my disability. For some strange reason the owner only leaves towels for two people. I made a special request because there were 3 of us.... and was asked to remind her before we travelled !! Downstairs. The privacy catch in the loo is too stiff to close and lock the door. There are a lot of dirty glasses in the cupboard. The oven tray needs a good clean and a glass oven dish was dirty. The kettle needs de scaling. It was full of lime scale. The deck is very slippery because it needs cleaning. Some rubber matting would help to make it safe. There's a green spikey plant on the right side bottom of the garden. I stood looking at the amazing view, and cut my leg on it. It's lethal, and could also injure a dog. The terrace and view are what attracted us to book the cottage. It's a shame it doesn't look its best. I hope you will see my comments as honest and constructive .
