The Hedge at Dullstroom Cottage

The location and views from The Hedge are excellent and the big stoep is a plus. The rooms are spacious, and the linen and bedding were warm and cozy. The fireplace was our favourite part, and we enjoyed hours of playing board games in front of it. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

The app indicated that the keys could be found in a lockbox. Messages sent within the app to ascertain the pin for the lockbox went unanswered. Eventually, when calling the owner, we were informed that the keys had to be picked up at a restaurant in town. Proper communication ahead of our stay would have been appreciated. The management aspect of our visit could have been approved. The gas bottle, feeding the gas stove and oven, ran out of gas on our first evening whilst cooking dinner. The manager responded to our message immediately and drove to the venue to deliver a new bottle, but this situation could have been prevented by a simple check. No spare items were provided for e.g. garbage bags and toilet paper, which we unfortunately only realised in the middle of the night when we were not able to pick up some ourselves. I do not think leaving one additional toilet roll per bathroom is too much to ask for.

The property was well equipped

The min issue was the road leading to the property which was in a very bad state. Luckily we had a high car but a normal or low car would not have been able to drive up to the property. The garden and house are in need of some TLC. The padlocks on the doors were annoying and in my mind excessive. There were lots of coffee making facilities but an electric kettle would have been preferable as the gas kettle took ages to boil. One beds mattress was very hard the other had a big dip in the middle making for an uncomfortable sleep. When I’ve booked before through bookings.com there has always been tea and coffee, salt and pepper supplied and sometimes biscuits, milk and water, but there was nothing here.

The accomodation was a free standing house and was very private

Crapping gas stove, cup, glasses, kitchenware are crappy. Curtains were dirty, the house not in an overall good condition.

What a gorgeous place!! So clean and quaint. We just loved it. It has everything. WiFi, all kitchen utensils, a fireplace. Just gorgeous. We will definitely be back 💕 Thank you again to our hosts for being so accommodating with us as well.

Close to town and house is neat and clean

Beautiful view from the stoep. Both the garden and cottage have a lot of potential. We enjoyed our stay. All the guests enjoyed the beds and had a good night's rest. Comfy and soft blankets. It is not 5 stars but value for the price that you pay. It was easy to collect the key from the lock box especially since we arrived late at night. Underroof parking for two vehicles.

The garden was not well maintained but the host did apologize beforehand that the gardener did not pitch. This is a real pity as the view from the stoep is what makes this place so special. We struggled to open the security gate for entrance to the property via the kitchen. The many locks on all the doors makes entrance to the stoep really difficult. The keys were also a bit messy and not well kept together. Kitchen and kitchen utensils also a bit messy - wine glasses for instance not the same.
