Big Bear Ridge Lodge - Breathtaking mountain views and private forest scenes in amazing large log cabin

Location ambience view and facilities.. We had a bear visit.Perfect for a weekend getaway with all amenities.

The mountain view was spectacular. Better than we could have imagined. We were even fortunate to get multiple visits from the bears. The home was gorgeous and loved all the sayings that were located throughout the home. They made it feel very warm and welcoming. There was even musical instruments (piano, guitar, banjo, and ukuleles) and multiple board and card games available for guests to play. Markus was always prompt on our inquiries and patient, as this was our first time using booking.com and using a rental.

You're definitely in the mountains so the drive up and down may make one feel anxious if not used to it.

Great venue for multi-family weekend.

A few issues with equipment/appliances which were quickly resolved.

The size of the cabin was more than expected. Very spacious for our very large family. The kitchen was adequately supplied. Very accommodating. We were very excited about the bears visiting our smores party uninvited. It was awesome!!

We experienced a few pests visiting. A couple of unsatisfactory mattresses which were replaced the next day by the very accommodating host.

The living room provided a beautiful view of the mountains. That was easily my favorite thing about the cabin. I also liked that the cabin had very nice furniture, beds, appliances, and a well equipped kitchen. Some cabins have cheaper quality things put into their cabins but this one was well equipped and maintained. The wrap around balconies provided great space for family to go out and enjoy the view! I really liked that every level had its own thermostat as well. Overall the cabin was definitely one of the nicest I have stayed in!

We had a bit of issue getting into our cabin when we first arrived and we were stuck out in the cold for several hours before we were able to get in. The owner said they had sent an email with check in/out instructions a week prior to our arrival but I never received anything. Usually when I book through Booking.com I receive confirmations, check in/out instructions, and all other communication messages through both the Booking.com app and through my email. However, this was not the case. After hours of us and Booking.com Customer Service trying to contact the owners, we heard back from the owner. At that time, after the owner had sent us personal instructions with the check in code via text message, I received the instructions via the Booking.com app as well. This was frustrating because we had 20 people with us and we were out in the cold. Other than that, the only other issue we had was we could not find the remote for the living room tv to put movies on so we just all had to go downstairs to the theater area. The drive wasn't bad for us. I do not mind staying a bit further out to enjoy a nice cabin and some pretty views, but I know for some people they do. The cabin was about 16-19 miles out from all the attractions we enjoyed which is not far mileage wise, but time wise was probably 35-45 minutes to get anywhere. The roads to get to the cabin were not the worst I have driven through, but the did have several curves (which only 1 or 2 of them were somewhat tight) and got a little steep in some areas. I was in a 15 passenger van and really did not struggle, I just had to go a little bit slower. Like I said, this was not an issue for me but I know for some (like my parents who did not go on this trip) I know they would have not liked that about it.
