Cabin Sweet Cabin

The location was great. We were participating in the TSSSA competition at the Camal County Shooting Sports in Spring Branch, TX.

There was nothing I didn't like except that we only got to stay for one night.

Fairly isolated but that meant it was much quieter and more private than a hotel room. It is small, but completely comfortable for one person or two who don't mind sharing the space. It was perfect for my needs as I was travelling alone and just in town to visit family.

It was a little hard to find as it's not visible from the road. And there was no wifi but the signal strength for my phone was solid. All in all, no real complaints.

The cabin was so great, we absolutely loved it! The area was peaceful, even though the owners home is right across the way. But that didn't bother us one bit. It was beautiful and definitely plan and staying again!!

We liked everything so this doesn't apply.

We were content with location, hosts being next door, The cabin was clean. The bed had ample covers and pillows everywhere, pillows on top of pillows. The cabin had nice size refrigerator, good microwave, looked like a new toaster oven, and what seemed to be a new 12 cup coffee pot - which was appreciated. From here it goes downhill.

Start with the aesthetic impression first. We spent our 3 days trying to decide if the place was kitschy or cutesy. A lot of both was the final call. Stuff on the walls is fine, but, having to work around kitschy/cutesy fake flowers in baskets was an annoyance. That coffee pot had a 2.5 foot power cord and was in a place where no electrical outlet was within 5 feet. I had to lift the toaster oven off the microwave and move it to the coffee table the set the coffeepot on the microwave in order to reach an outlet. Obviously not well thought out. Then there is the bathroom, where one of those kitschy/cutesy annoyances in the form of a large vase of plastic flowers occupied about 35% of the available space on top of that little counter. There was no mirror or electrical outlet in the bathroom sink at all. Ladies typically apply their makeup and dress their hair in that location. But, there was a mirror in the bathroom. yes, across from the shower on the wall and about 5 feet away from the bathroom sink. May I mention that the distance from that wall to the actual shower is only about 18 - 20 inches wide. Not a good place for doing hair and makeup. The hosts could get rid of that vase and flowers, install an electrical outlet and hang that mirror on that wall to the right of the sink. As it was my wife was fortunate to have a curling iron with about 5-6 feet of cord on it, so she was able to run the cord through the crack of the door to the outlet where the coffee pot was plugged in. There is a large closet off the bathroom that seems to consume a lot of space but has no function in making the guest stay more enjoyable. We had a large bag apiece and wound up having to move a lot of pillows and lay our bags on the sofa, because there were no foldout luggage stands as you will typically find in a room. Last, a regular spraying to discourage mosquitos would have been nice, as I was chased off by a steady barrage of mosquitos.

It was like home away from home

Steep uphill drive, if 1st time I recommend you drive to the cabin in the daytime. But cabin is Wonderful

The seclusion was the main attraction.

The heater made a lot of noise and it was difficult to sleep. WiFi didn’t operate well.

The location and price is great!

A tad small for 4 people but not enough to complain. Awesome little gettaway!

The cabin was small but cute. Location was fine, but you can't find it at night (no light or identifying features in the dark).

We were VERY DISAPPOINTED in the way the owner treated us. We talked to the owner by phone twice on the phone the day of our arrival, once about 11:30 in the morning and once at 3:30 in the afternoon. She did not inform us that the heat was not working. We arrived at 8:00 pm, unloaded our car for a 3 night stay. At 9:00 pm, the owner knocks on the door carrying a blanket. She informs us that the previous night's guest didn't tell her the heat was out until he checked out in the morning. She knew the heat was out but failed to inform us even when we talked twice earlier in the day. She waited until we were unloaded and stuck for the night. Luckily, the temperature was warming up after an extreme cold spell, but 2 of the three nights we were awakened by the cold during the night. She made no offer of any kind for the lack of heat, just took advantage of us being stuck at that point. We made a point of being gone every day until almost bed time. I think the owner just wanted her money no matter how it screwed us over. Also, the bed is very uncomfortable. It sags badly in the middle. I am fairly tall and was uncomfortable each night. You share a driveway with the owners' house, which about 75' from the cabin.
