ARADENA TRADITIONAL House 1

Tout le confort était là pour le petit déjeuner. L'emplacement est fantastique, parmi les oliviers, dans le voisinage des chèvres, et à proximité des gorges d'Aradaina. Il semble d'ailleurs que le logement soit un très bon emplacement pour les découvrir sans prendre la voiture : se renseigner sur les horaires pour prendre un bus à Anopoli, à 15 minutes à pied, pour Sfakia (=Chora Sfakion) et de là un bateau pour Loutro ; puis de Loutro, marcher vers Phoinix (15 minutes à pied, très bel endroit pour laisser là les non-marcheurs), Lykkos et Marmara. A Marmara, remonter les gorges d'Aradaina jusqu'au point d'arrivée près du pont (5 minutes à pied depuis le logement). Nous ne l'avons pas fait cette fois-ci, mais c'est en projet pour moi. Pour le reste, le logement est spacieux avec une immense terrasse et un jardin en contrebas pour les enfants, dans un terrain clos. La montée en voiture depuis Sfakia se fait par une route en lacets, mais très large (20 minutes) et sans danger ; au-delà d'Aradaina, on peut aller jusqu'à Agios Ioannis et suivre à pied un sentier balisé plutôt facile vers Korphi Papakephala ou une grotte (spilaio) dont j'oublie le nom. Depuis Sfakia (nombreux commerces, restaurants de poissons) on peut aussi aller vers les gorges d'Imbros (très fréquentées, sans doute presque autant que celles de Samaria) et Frangokastello (immense plage), Kapsodasos et les gorges de Kallikratis. Au total : séjour de repos au calme dans un logement spacieux et confortable, ou escapades vers Sfakia, (bateau pour Loutro), Frangokastello, et nombreuses balades à pied dans les environs.

La connexion privée internet m'a semblé médiocre. Mieux vaut compter sur son smartphone.

Le calme, l’isolement, la nature et ses animaux, l’immensité de la terrasse à l’abri du soleil, son petit vent rafraîchissant et la maison confortable bien et joliment équipée. La propriétaire fut au téléphone réactive et très chaleureuse. Ce fut un séjour inoubliable et reposant dans un cadre de bout du monde.

If you love the luxury of being along in the nature, the place is perfect for you. Unfortunately we booked it only for 3 night, although it would be so good to stay here the whole holidays. Plenty of space, private garden, nature and Milky Way… it looks it’s far from the beaches, but it’s not. It’s only 20 min drive to Finix/nico’ taverna, very nice beach with plenty of fishes. The owner was always in contact and helped a lot. Thanks!

Everything was perfect at Aradena House ! We had everything we needed and the place is very calm, juste what we were looking for!

Everything about this house was perfect: the facilities, the location near the Aradena gorge, the balcony on which you can spend hours just enjoying the silence, and the super attentive hostess.

Very characterful and charming holiday home in Aradena village. Extremely tranquil area, perfectly located for the gorge walk and other hikes. Good access instructions and information from the owner, and Maria, who keeps the homes cleaned, was also friendly and helpful, with insights into the local area. Very comfortable beds and spacious living area. The kitchen is very well equipped, with complimentary goodies (such as eggs, bread and fruit) on arrival as well as basic condiments. There is a modern heater, for chilly evenings, and a large sunny terrace. I was lucky as there were no other guests staying during my visit, so there was nothing to disturb the tranquility.

Unfortunately the TV was not working at the time of my visit, which was disappointing as a solo traveller it's nice to have the option, but these things happen.

Great location for hiking, very private and atmospherical, with lots of cute goats and beautiful nature surrounding the premise. Especially Janna and her tips and quick communication, she even offered to send us back our ring that we left at the house. All in all would really recommend for a nice stay on the countryside!

The house is very nice! Fully equipped and very clean! The Owner is very polite and helpful.... Aradaina is one of the most 'must stay' places in Crete... hike or swimming all day... and wake up by the sounds of nature... I highly recomend each of the houses!!!
