Belle Isle Castle and Cottages

Great living spaces in cottages, walking paths and boat access were nice. Easily walkable between the carriage houses, Cathcart lodge and the bridge house cottages we rented.

Not having window screens was disappointing. Separate hot and cold taps at bathroom sinks takes getting used to. I ended up just using cold water

Good size bungalow near the lake. Well equipped for stays up to a week or so and can sleep up to 6 people.

3 things really! 1- lack of view despite the description indicates that the bungalow comes with lake view. The place we booked was meant to be lake view. A digger was parked in front of the window that has the view ..!!! On check in I spoke to the man regarding the ugly digger parked not only obstructing the view but thats all we see really! Be said no one with a license on duty. So it was there during our entire stay! 2- No hot water. The switch that is meant to turn on the hot water was on, but we didn’t have hot water. This ruined our stay specially that we were traveling with a newborn that required cleaning . 3- lack of customer service out of office . They provided me with a number on brochure on arrival I called customer service over 11 times, no response. It took us to voice massage! Left a voice massage never got a reply. I even left a massage on booking, again no reply. The digger was removed just couple of ours before we checked out. Hot water was only available the next day again just couple of ours before we checked out. ( the oil heating turned on automatically and thats how we got hot water) Spoke to the staff when I checked out to notify them of that issue. The lady was apologetic. But lack of hot water and large digger obstructing the view and on top of that no customer service over night to address those issue ruined our stay.

Superb location and setting. Donkeys. Style and layout of cottage.

It felt less personal and more visibly commercial than on our previous visit a few years ago. The walk near the house seemed quite changed and more restricted..

Great accimmodation. Had everything we needed. Good wee courtyard nice peaceful. Good value for money would cone vack

The property is stunning and staff were very nice on check in. They moved me to a closer cottage as I was only there for a night and the cottage they’d assigned me was 10 min walk from the castle. The cottage’s are spotless and well equipped, including bbq and picnic tables. The area is beautiful with lake views and access. A great place to unwind.

I was only there for the night for an invent in the castle and was not well prepared. There’s nowhere on the property to get food or drink and it’s too far for any delivery service. There didn’t seem to be permanent staff in the castle to ask for anything. It seems to run around events only. Did manage to get a self serve cup of coffee in the castle kitchen the following morning. Enniskillen is 25 mins drive away and restaurant kitchens close early enough. Maguiresbridge 15 mins away has two takeouts. It would have been good to have this highlighted. The web shows they have a bistro but this closed through Covid. This is probably not an issue if you’re coming fully prepared for a longer stay, self catering.
