Tamassa Holiday Home on the Beach, in Port Edward

Location. Lots of sleeping space. Wasn’t short of anything besides a pool. Practically on the beach. Lovely views. Whales and dolphins clearly seen from main upstairs bedroom.

The place needs TLC. Matrices, couches & cutlery need replacing.

it was a very scenic location , a very short walk to the beach .

it was an ant infested cottage that was so stuffy and dusty when we arrived . was definetly not wiped down or aired before we got there, THe dishwasher doesnt work and you cant use the microwave for longer than two minutes , it switches off . the toaster didnt work , so no toast for breakfast on the cold mornings . the light in the bottom bedroom didnt work . i sent pics to the host on the 19TH of May anD im still waiting for a response from her . While the place is beautifully located with ample space, it really needs a huge makeover . it has the oldest crockery and cutlery , everything is so stained and ancient . not a kitchen you want to prepare meals in . the cupboards are all old, stuffy and damp . the sink and wash area outside was green and moulded . definetly not the pics you see on the internet . we were definetly dissapointed

It is certainly a beach house from the decor to the easy access to the beach. Loved the location and the friendly host who assisted so promptly.

The home as a whole was good value for money in regards to views, space and being pet friendly. Room set up in regards to space/sleepers was sufficient and bathrooms were spacious as well. The outside yard from the parking, patio and driveway only was clean and neat. The distance to the beach was perfect. The house is well secured with alarm systems and electric fencing that can be armed and disarmed when needed.

Area at laundry line was clogged upon arrival with an odour. Kitchen area door couldnt be opened to due sewage/clogging odour. Room walls and linen were damp and cold and had a damp odour. Toilets downstairs were clogging after 3 flushes. Dishes to cook in were not the best in appearance. Main big fridge smelt of fish and we were unable to use it. The downstairs room aircon was not in good working order and the ceiling fans were dusty not working. Lighting was not bright enough in rooms as we were only able to use the bedside lamps. Couches in lounge area was not comfortable enough. Beds were not comfortable(2 rooms have 2 beds joined to make 1 bed). Room that has bunks, had an ant fest so we could not leave the windows open. Over all: Linen in rooms need to be changed as current 1s looks old and almost worn out. Kitchen utensils need to be upgraded. Lighting needs to be changed to brighter lights and there needs to be something that can be done for the dampness.

This property was big enough for our family vacation. The rooms are big and spacious. We enjoyed easy access to the beach.

The house had a stuffy smell when we got there. We had to open the unit to freshen it up. The property does need a bit of maintenance like painting and fixing the cupboards. The area had a power outage, there was no power and water. We had no backup power or lights to use. I think that they should have these in place as holiday makers are coming through. Even letting people know where the back up lights etc are.

Location: The beach can be reached through a secure gate at the bottom of the garden. Beach is mainly rocky, but a swimming beach is not a far drive. Beach felt safe and lots of rock pools. The house is close to shops, tea rooms/ restaurants. The local OK stocks good food and meat and anything else you need. Facilities: Braai area and verandah have a great view and accommodates many people comfortably. Property is secured with alarm, electric fences and 24 hour security company is on call. There are three bathrooms with large showers in each. There is a washing line outside. The house is full of lovely beachy art work, making it homey and pleasant. Upstairs main bedroom has good view and balcony, downstairs room also has sitting area, so lots of,space for all guests. There was an inverter which supported charging phones, two lamps WIFI and TV during load shedding. The lady who services the property was lovely and pleasant. Check in Info is straightforward. Pet friendly.

Facilities: There are only aircons in two of the rooms and fans in the remainder of the bedrooms, no fans in communal lounge and kitchen. So these areas are very hot and humid . Upstairs room and one downstairs room has aircon. The grass is very sloshy and soggy walking down to the beach. Garden itself is well groomed and looks good just not so great to lie out on the grass. NB : WHEN THERE IS PROLONGED LOAD SHEDDING OR NO ELECTRICITY FOR LONGER PERIODS THE TOILETS DONT FILL WITH WATER. NEED TO BE AWARE THAT YOU HAVE TO FILL BUCKETS TO FLUSH TOILETS WHEN THIS HAPPENS. Property needs some TLC : There were heavy rains during stay which resulted in water leaking down main bedroom steps inside the house . The drains the next morning appeared blocked and were smelling heavily. The small fridge does not cool drinks well and the dishwasher was not working. Just a heads up - It's a good idea to check inverter is on when you arrive at property as we made the mistake of only checking when we needed it and had to wait for it to charge. Better to check yourself as I do not remember mention of this in check-in info.
