Unique Thatched Retreat near Salcombe and Beaches

The property was beautifully kept, with lovely cosy homely features. I loved that they added personal touches like your name for parking on a little black board and supplied toiletries for our night stay. The property had very good WiFi and various channels on the TV including Netflix.

The hosts Helen and Shane were superb. Welcoming, and friendly and nothing too much trouble. Shane even came out to say goodbye and wave us off when our stay came to an end.

It’s uniqueness in a village setting

Lovely location weather was awful so we didn’t get the chance to sit out on the lovely patio. Lovely room with tea coffee and lovely and warm . Would stay again .

Pillows were rock hard. Did mention this. I know it’s hard to please everybody where pillows are concerned but they were exceptionally hard

A beautifully restored barn created a high quality accommodation, attention to detail was appreciated and in keeping with the property. It is in a quiet and peaceful location . Shane gave us a warm welcome and was an attentive host who provided us with lots of useful local information. Helen was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. It’s a short drive to beautiful beaches and to Kingsbridge for a good choice of restaurants and a popular fish and chip shop. Plus a great ice cream parlour called Scoops!

Quiet in a secluded part of South Devon. Comfy king size bed, and only 2 miles to walk to some amazing beaches and coastline. Parking was off the road adjacent to the retreat and the patio and garden was ideal for the property enjoying late sun in the evening No stairs within the building or outside to worry about, fortunately not us. Good bathroom with shower no bath ( suits us). The hosts were personable and knowledgeable about the area and made us both very welcome. Kingsbridge and Salcombe around a 15 minute drive if you wish to use them for food and drink shopping. We made use of the reel cinema on Sat evening £6.50 each to watch the latest films. We soon learnt which roads were easiest to navigate into the village as with all lanes in the County, driving can be challenging at times, especially to the loveliest spots. South Milton beach has a National Trust car park , free for members, £6 per day otherwise if you take the car

My wife would have liked more wardrobe space as with British holidays you take a myriad of clothing due to weather , yet we did manage , so only a minor issue There is no village shop or local pub in South Milton , Again minor issue for us and there were things there to use put in place by the hosts eg tea, coffee , etc and we shopped Kingsbridge on Saturday. Where pub was concerned we came off the beach and used the beach bar at SMilton sands or the Rockboxx at Thurlestone for our pub, and then had a pleasant walk home in the evening on the country lanes. We didn’t need a torch

Quaint, quirky, clean and stylish. Tea, coffee etc are available and our hosts left us fresh milk. Lovely outside area/garden. Brilliant hosts, so helpful and gave us plenty of advice/tips of best places to visit. Only sorry we only had two night stay.

If you don’t like driving along narrow country lanes, this place / area may not be the place for a visit. We didn’t mind but it can be challenging.

Couldn’t rate this stay highly enough. Superb cottage in a perfect location. Shane and Helen were excellent hosts and super friendly. Would definitely stay again and probably will…… Thankyou
