"Cute, cozy beach house."

9.0

Giovanni was a great host. Immediately after booking my stay he reached out to me to see if I had any special needs and when I anticipated arriving. He allowed me to stay the following day as late as I wanted until I had to go to the airport. This was a last minute booking for me. I was at a Masseria south of Lecce and was supposed to travel home directly from there. When I was enroute to Italy I lost my passport in Zurich. An airline employee gave me back the wrong passport and I did not notice until I reached my final destination. I was in a very rural area and needed to travel to get an emergency passport. I continued with my group and our travel but, I was under a lot of stress due to not being able to reach a human at the American consulate (all recordings) I had to miss things to arrange logistics of added travel arrangements, get a police report etc. I needed to vacate the Masseria at 10 am and a friend I met on the trip was going to a hotel in Torre Canne. I decided to join her to have a day to decompress before traveling to Florence to get a new passport. Unfortunately, the hotel had no rooms that night due to the Giro d' Italia race and a conference at the hotel. I found this beach house which was very close to the hotel. Our driver dropped me off on a street near the beach house despite me giving him the address. An older Italian gentleman came out of his house and I called Giovanni and he spoke to the driver and the resident of the street I was on. The resident kindly carried one of my bags and walked me to the house which was down the street and around the corner. A neighbor of Giovanni then let me in the house and Giovanni arrived about 10 min later. The kitchen is well equipped. It would be a perfect place for a small family to stay. Looks like everything you need to make a meal. I enjoyed sleeping with all the windows open and feeling the fresh breezes. Giovanni did a great job checking in with me to see if I needed anything.

I did not have a car so, I did not have the ability to get any food. A lot of restaurants were not open until Wed. I was there on a Tuesday. The places that were open did not open until later in the evening and I did not want to be out that late. I did go to the nearby hotel and have a snack and a couple drinks. I had brought a few small snacks with me. Got to see the ocean. There was a sign for a small market nearby but, it did not appear to exist anymore.
